You've got me confused pakarang! Isn't that BBC news from Octovber 2013? I thought the Asian hotel thing had fallen through. But there have been recent speculations including an interest in her coming back to Glasgow! I'll look out the reference when I'm not mobile.

WAOW. Well spotted. That completely passed my check....

Yes, you are so correct, that plan eventually fell through the drain hole.

Though, that being said, the owners recently confirmed that the ship WOULD NOT be scrapped, but nothing official on their website, nor any information what is to come.

    from the Maasmond Newsletter;

she is not gooing look any better there

It may look a little worse than it actually is. Those streaks are leaking grease and lubrication from the grease-nipples on the fairway-rollers.

A common problem on all the cruiseships I have served.

I couldn't find the exact thing I'd read earlier, but it was similar speculation to this report.

The BBC also recently came up with a briefer version here.

Time flies like a jet-aircraft.... and the QE2 still lingers in Dubai awaiting the future of her service...

Great time to look back at what she was built for:

Not sure whether many of you have seen this film / documentary from a Queen Elizabeth 2 crossing....

I loved it because it's so late 80's / early 90's.... while there was still romance in a crossing. Wonderful memories came flooding - memories from the big blue ship.

Also very interesting to hear what the navigators say about their Captain..... things have certainly changed since this was recorded.

The QE2 is FINALLY ready to be resurrected as a floating hotel in Dubai:

I saw this news and thought at first that it must have been a delayed April 1st joke, but then realised that it was actually true!

Looks like I have to go to visit the Middle East now.... just got to find myself a Star Alliance partner flying me there.

She set sail in 1969 as a symbol of Britain’s global aspirations. After almost four decades of service, both illustrious and embarrassing, she was moored, forlorn, at a dock in Dubai. But finally the QE2 is to open as a floating hotel – with bargain rates over the next few months.

Pretty amazing to see the ship come alive again - corridors with people, lounges with music and people enjoying the beauty of an ocean liner again!

Here is the official website of the hotel - next CVF board meeting on board the QE2?

The staircase looks like on lofoten. So why go so far. I would prefer to have the board Meeting on her as long as she still in regular service. Any ides for a certain date?

I actually agree with you! Would have been nice to do a cruise on Lofoten - I guess time is running out for her. Going off topic a bit, but what is the last date (we know of) she will be in service?

The German Hurtigforum is watching the schedule and they report, that Lofoten has at 9th of October 2019 her last round trip.

Sad to hear of her ?possible demise, but Harald Jarl was rather elderly and she is showing off very well as Serenissima. Perhaps there may be someone who buys Lofoten and does some renovating - to sail again.

Here is another video from youtube that I have watched two or three times already.... nice one I think. Very personal. And the dialect ---- nice!

Another really great video from the newly opened QE2... according to this film shot on board, she actually looks wonderful.

Look at those newly restored after deck, and that shiny shipside! How wonderful to see her come alive again.

Fantastic to see her alive once more. I had lost touch with QE2 news, probably been a couple of years or more since i last read anything about her, and at that time i feared for her future. Such a nice surprise to see she's finally back in business, plus i am very glad to see the plans to send her to the far east came to nothing.
                        Working...
