Thanks for the responses... yes, she has been laid up a long time now, and I'm afraid, based on a personal point of view, that the time is running out for her.

If nothing happens within the near future, she might be as good as lost. Not unlike the mouth-balls the Norway was spending in Germany before she was towed to Asia.

Things that are meant to work will not work forever if no longer used.

Taking her back to original appearance will never be the question I guess, it's already far too expensive to open/operate her as is.

Wow, that mighty bow has been made to cut thrugh wavey and rough seas, not to sit and wait. She has to be out on the seas again! What a lovely sight she is :-)

Thanks for posting the pics here, I hope we get news soon... Good news!

Yes, I totally agree, a mighty bow indeed. Made for the sea. Heavy seas.

Stunning images, I could look at these all day long. Every day I pray for some positive news regarding her future but all we get is rumours. I like most Brits, would dearly love to see her come home, preferable to sail the sea`s once more but I seriously doubt that will ever happen, the best chance I think would be as a hotel for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The thought of her still sitting alongside at Dubai year after year is heartbreaking

It would be nice to see this ship returned to the UK as a hotel ship. Perhaps the best place for her is the Titanic area that Belfast has in Northern Ireland. Could you imagine the Nomadic and the QE2 in the same place together? Although, here is a link of a city that wants the QE2 there. Much better than at Dubai:

It is doubly sad that the future of both the QE2 and Kungsholm are being debated at the same time- both ships built in the same yard and, if I remember correctly, one after the other.

THANKS for sharing all of these with us. First off, it is a honor to see these, and second off, how did you manage to get aboard? Gaelsail, I think you are right, 1966 for Kungsholm and 1969 for QE2. If I remember, by 1969 John Brown was making the transition to being called Upper Clydebank Shipbuilders.

I would have to agree that I would much rather see QE2 in Fremantle as a working tourist attraction/floating hotel than seeing her sat in Dubai doing nothing. But my ideal destination would be somewhere in the U.K.

I just hope this whole affair dose`not turn into another SS United States saga

                              Very difficult indeed.

Did everyone see this model on youtube, a model of QE2?
