    S|S France and S|S Norway : Pont des Embarcations – Oslo/Olympic Deck

Stories, facts and information from Pont des Embarcations – Oslo/Olympic Deck

This thread has been created and opened so that we can share images, facts and information on the ship’s deck mentioned in the above heading.

If you have anything to share, we would all love to hear from you: if you would like to tell us what special memory you have from that particular deck, please tell us: if you would like to share historical information on what the rooms were on the France, and what they became on the Norway, please tell us.

We are all eagerly looking forward to seeing images and reading stories.

A Set of Photos of the Chief Engineer's Office

I thought you would like to see this. The office was located forward on Olympic Deck; I think on the Starboard side..could be wrong. But, when we took our second cruise on the NORWAY, I had seen the room was open, so I decided to take a couple of photos. I'll get the next photo up soon. I'm sure this will bring memories back to some who worked on the lovely ship.

sigpicI will never forget the lovely grand SS NORWAY.
    Past Cruises on her: August 22, 1992. June 4, 1994, April 7, 2002.
Nearly had our fourth cruise, it was set for November 7, 2003...
the boiler room disaster of May 4, 2003 took her out of service.
We ended up on the NORWEGIAN WIND, not the same as the SS NORWAY

Very interesting.... I could have been sleeping in that officers cabin bed... it could have been O-1008, O-1010, or even O-1012... but definitely not O-1006.

I do not remember these cabins too well, but seeing the image, some parts come to my mind.

The chief engineer office is completely erased from my mind, for some strange reason.

Jan, it has now been un-erased for you. I'm so glad I got this when I did. We were in 0-53 on this cruise. Our first one was in O-63. As I scan more photos, I'm hoping to see some that might jog more of a memory for you. Feel free to save these photos and put them on your SS NORWAY site.

I spent many Sat mornings speaking with the Chief and Staff engineers in this office. The visit was long but it was most enjoyable.

            Olympic Deck Special Room Photos

I'm not sure if this was just for officers? I'm sure it was originally for first class passengers when she was the FRANCE. I don't recall seeing a name on the door. Again, Jan; if you want to, you can add these photos and make any adjustment to them so you can post them on your NORWAY blog.

The Officers Bar of the SS Norway - or also called the Officer's Dayroom.
