S|S France and S|S Norway : Pont Promenade – Pool Deck

Stories, facts and information from Pont Promenade – Pool Deck

This thread has been created and opened so that we can share images, facts and information on the ship’s deck mentioned in the above heading.

If you have anything to share, we would all love to hear from you: if you would like to tell us what special memory you have from that particular deck, please tell us: if you would like to share historical information on what the rooms were on the France, and what they became on the Norway, please tell us.

We are all eagerly looking forward to seeing images and reading stories.

The shows were always wonderful in here. You got to meet the Captain and his staff on the second night of the cruise, also some nice shows were done in here. Especially by the Cruise Director and his staff...you'll see those photos in a bit. I'm still scanning them according to the way I put them in a huge photo album, which really took 3 photo albums. I took scads and scads of photos.
sigpicI will never forget the lovely grand SS NORWAY.
    Past Cruises on her: August 22, 1992. June 4, 1994, April 7, 2002.
Nearly had our fourth cruise, it was set for November 7, 2003...
the boiler room disaster of May 4, 2003 took her out of service.
We ended up on the NORWEGIAN WIND, not the same as the SS NORWAY

Oh GOD, when I see these images, I miss the ship so very, very much... her aura of history, the smells and sounds on board and the feeling of working on board her...

Nothing, and I mean nothing, will ever come close to her grace and elegance.

As Captain Gangdal said when he debarked for the last time: "The world will never be able to afford building something like this ever again"!.

And how right he is...Like you, I miss this ship alot, todays designers don't have the same thinking when it comes to building cruise ships. Nothing like this ship ever again.
