S|S Norway : Cruising home in Norway.

I would very much like to continue this thread from our old board and hope that others also will join in and add their own images of S|S Norway from the times she visited Norway.

To see what we have gathered so far, please read this thread at the old board (page 1 to 6): S|S Norway : Cruising home in Norway.

Here are two new scans: first from an article by Nordland Touristboard back in 1985 which also featured a picture of our beautiful vessel, probably while she was on one of her best cruises ever as the Norway: she is here seen by the Svartisen Glacier in Nordland County:

The next image I have scanned was found in the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet and featured the ship in an un-related article about the whale hunting of Norway:

Indeed... and the more I look at the ships of today, the more I realize how special and how much magic this ship projected wherever she went. There is a certain nostalgia, a certain charm with her design: so strong, so long, so elegant... and so incredibly powerful. Everything on board her, from that very special smell to the over-dimensioned parts in ever nook and cranny... she was truly special and there will never be a ship like her, ever again...

SS Norway is definitely magic. When i first heard about her going to the scrappers in 2006, i hardly knew anything about her. i only knew what she looked like as the SS France and SS Norway in the 1990s. but i started digging around for days for images of her and i've practically fell in love with her. RMS Titanic sparked my interesdt in ships, but i think if it hadnt been for the SS Norway, with that cute stern of hers and her sparkling blue bow, and her twin characteristic funnels, i probably would not have gotten to know about QE2 or some of the other fabulous liners. I terribly miss her so much. But i guess missing her is what makes her a great memory.

Captain Andrew, she was definitely magical and majestic...here are photos of her I downloaded onto Webshots Community:

When I heard she was coming to Miami after her complete refurbishment, I knew I wanted to go on a cruise right away...that would not occur until Aug. 22, 1992...2 days before Hurricane Andrew came into Homestead, FL.
sigpicI will never forget the lovely grand SS NORWAY.
                Past Cruises on her: August 22, 1992. June 4, 1994, April 7, 2002.
Nearly had our fourth cruise, it was set for November 7, 2003...
the boiler room disaster of May 4, 2003 took her out of service.
We ended up on the NORWEGIAN WIND, not the same as the SS NORWAY

Hmm. Looks a little bit like Eidfjord in Hardanger, but I'm not sure..

I know there is a river outlet, as seen in the above image, in Hellesylt, but there, they do not have the big building which you can see in the water front.

I can't pinpoint this place, and because I'm also not in possession of her cruise itinerary for that particular cruise (not like I haven't asked for someone to dig it up... ), the name of the place evades me.
