Thank you so much for your comment and understanding Steve.

Actually, the link was submitted to me by a reader (which I also would like to share the thanks with).

It's always with great sadness I see clips and films like these. I only wish digital cameras had been invented 15-20 years earlier so that I could have had a much larger own private collection.

Watching those video clips of the SS Norway/SS France are amazing. I can't understand why Star Cruises rid themselves of this majestic ship? They certainly want the world to forget about this ship. Hardly any mention of the history of the SS Norway comes to their mind, as if they omited that piece of information out of the NCL history books.

I'll admit that they will never be a ship like the SS France or SS Norway again in this world. Now all eyes are focused on its forerunner, the SS United States. A ship that inspired the SS France. Wouldn't had been something if the Big U's designers, Gibbs & Cox, designed the SS France?

The SS France might have taken the Blue Ribband/Hales Trophy away from the Big U as the fastest ship in the world.

Here is a video that projected how the future would be like with positive enthusiasim. Too bad the reality never matched the fantasy, like the SS France had done. If anyone back in 1958 had foreseen what was in store from them 50 years later, they would say that the future is a very scary place. Especially when those in charge of government and business, do not give a damn about anything, except their FAT paychecks. This way of thinking is what doomed the SS Norway as the result of NCL's lack of concern for the ship before her boiler blewup. A situation that could have been prevented by selling to ship to another operator. It's the boiler explosion that DOOMED the ship from ever becoming a static attraction like the SS Rotterdam. Now all that's left are the bits of memories that we share about the ship that forever changed the cruise ship industry.
