Thank you so much for sharing these images.... I do badly want to go there myself and touch it, see it....

I would probably lay down on the ground looking up at the bow, imagining I was back on the tender again.... ahhh... those years.

When I see the bow here, I wish they had saved more of the ship: a funnel, the whole bridge, the stern deck.... the entire bow section..

How awesome would it be today, if we had more of the ship?

I totally agree, when I see these photos of the bow...it just makes we wish it could have happened. It's so good to know where the bow ended up.
sigpicI will never forget the lovely grand SS NORWAY.
              Past Cruises on her: August 22, 1992. June 4, 1994, April 7, 2002.
Nearly had our fourth cruise, it was set for November 7, 2003...
the boiler room disaster of May 4, 2003 took her out of service.
We ended up on the NORWEGIAN WIND, not the same as the SS NORWAY

I would really like to having seen a much BIGGER part of her saved, the whole whaleback forecastle for example, something large... the entire Club International would be awesome!

                    Re: The new : FRANCE

It's just another view of a Ship ...

Yes on the begining , i have absolutely the same reaction !!!
But now , after many , many reflections i have another view of this project .

BECAUSE we speak with Mr Didier Spade , the creator of this project .
He's Father & Grandfather have work for the inside room of the s/s FRANCE 1962 (the Stairs) .
And Mr Spade is the owner of the Yacht Marina Club from PARIS about 20 years .
So after the Auction battle for the Bow (Mr Spade was the second bider).
And the realy end of the Life of s/s FRANCE 1962 .
Mr Spade have this idea to build a new ship !!!

But not a " COPY " of the Wonderful Ship from 1962 , but a totality new design ...
My English is not so good , but he say : in any reason i will make a copy !
And to listen the comparaison from the Old to the New ...

Because , for the French the name of this Ship is in our Heart .
If you look the 1912 s/s FRANCE , the outside is very ugly , but for the inside he recieve the name of : Le Versailles des Mers !!!
We live now in 21 century , and we will build a ship from this time .
The past is the past . Nobody will forget the Ship of 1962 but the time change .

260 meters of 30 meters and with just 6 meters draft !
With a Ecologic propulsion system ! Design of the 21 Century !

Saint Nazaire is ready for the building , with the achivement of they plans .
School of Designers look for they inside rooms ...
Mr Spade look for the Cooking with Master Chefs (la Grande Cuisine Française).

But now the most dificult problem is : The Money ...
In the next month to the end of the year the Futur of this project can live or die .

                    Here the last news :

                      Re: The new : FRANCE

Personally, I would rather see them construct a near identical sister of the SS France, with all of the modern/naval amenities, except for the balconies. Make her into an oceanliner/cruise ship that would rival the SS United States and the QE2.

                            Noel,
I wish the designers the best of luck with their version of the SS France. In my opinion, I would take the SS France of 1962 over the proposed cruise liner France of 2015.

I will throw in a fire-ball here... but I'd like to see the new France built....

A bit over the top, YES, absolutely, but it reminds me of the Phoenix project of Mr. Knut Kloster merged with the details of the France.
