  • SS NORWAY / Blue Lady Item wanted

Does anyone have any idea what happened to the flags that were flown from the mast of the SS Norway? I am searching for one particular flag. Please help if you have any clues.

Which particular flag are you on the lookout after?

In my own private collection, I have the very last Norwegian storm-postal flag that was flown from the main mast when SS Norway entered Nassau for her reflagging in March 1987.

One flag that I was promised to get from the now well known SS Norway-parts-dealer, was the SS Norway penant: so far, I have not received this flag despite several promises and attempts to contact the man. This flag had a particular signifcance to me: it was flown on my birthday, used as decoration at my birthday party on board, and also at my second and last helicopter charter photo shoot of the ship off Saint Thomas.

      • Where did you get these flags and are there more where they came from? I am searching for one particular flag from the SS Norway that was flown from the main mast. Please...if you have any clues as to who might have the largest collection of flags from the Blue Lady or SS Norway, please let me know.

        • Sadly, I don't think there are many more flags left from the ship: that are not sold already.

The only flags that would be available I think, would be some flags that were already sold before.

But the prices are still quite inflated.

The merchant who sold and traded items from the ship is no longer, as far as I know, in business. I have outstanding business with him as well, and he is nowhere to be found.

          • Norway flags

The specific flag I want is the United Nations Flag.

I think that would be hard to find: with a stock of a handful of flags, they might have been just a few at last order.

But, I might be proved wrong.

              • SS NORWAY Passenger ID Cards

Has anyone kept their passenger ID cards? I'm trying to find mine.
sigpicI will never forget the lovely grand SS NORWAY.
                Past Cruises on her: August 22, 1992. June 4, 1994, April 7, 2002.
Nearly had our fourth cruise, it was set for November 7, 2003...
the boiler room disaster of May 4, 2003 took her out of service.
We ended up on the NORWEGIAN WIND, not the same as the SS NORWAY

I should have some boarding cards from the Norway - somewhere. I will see if I can find them in an album or something... I have been planning to clean out the closets, there is quite a few things I've been looking for lately.

                  • Truely creative. Your framed collage reminds me of a collection of items from the France and Norway, on board the Norway. It was sort of a shadow box. If I remember correctly it was located outside the photo shop. I like yours better. Thanks for sharing.

You are so right, I've seen that collage, it was just forward of the Club Internationale on International Deck, it was inside and also not too far from what was the Upstairs at the Downstairs shop. Thank you for your comment. I enjoyed putting it together. I still haven't gotten my second one together yet. I've been a bit busy lately.

                        • Alas Jan-Olav my sentiments are the same as yours. Better that those name plates of our beloved SS Norway had been carried off to the ovens and melted down with the rest of the ship.
It is sad to see them lying about and rusting. Such is life.

                          • I have ordered myself a copy of this new photo book, and it is currently under way from the sellers. It cost me just 229 Norwegian kroner:
