Make sure Theo knows that someone in the United States wants to see pictures of his project.

I have 2 huge models of the SS FRANCE, one I'm doing as the FRANCE the other as the NORWAY in her original livery. It's that livery I loved the best, somehow it made her look larger and more elegant than she did when they added that extra deck and repainted her smokestacks that terrible dark blue paint. I will always remember her best in the original form.
sigpicI will never forget the lovely grand SS NORWAY.
              Past Cruises on her: August 22, 1992. June 4, 1994, April 7, 2002.
Nearly had our fourth cruise, it was set for November 7, 2003...
the boiler room disaster of May 4, 2003 took her out of service.
We ended up on the NORWEGIAN WIND, not the same as the SS NORWAY

I'm unfortunately not that good reading French, but as far as I understand, this company makes and sells a model kit of the SS France....

If anyone would be so brilliant as to give us further details, it would be highly appreciated.

I am convinced, that our member Noel can give you more detailed information, because my French is poor. But i understand the following:

You will receive a kit in scale 1/250, that means the model will be 126 cm long

This kit is combined to an abonnement:
Each month you will receive four numbers of a magazine with parts of this kit. The kit contains 140 numbers, each number costs 6.99 €, Total 980 €. For a total about 100 € you can purchase additional parts each 20 numbers. As "discount" you get number 1 and 3 free and some additional stuff like a book, a DVD and some tools. Total abonnement time (and construction time for your model): 3 years.

The quality of the parts is reported as good, while enthusiasts are spending about 200 € for additional metal parts, which they buy elsewhere.

The company Hachette is existing since many years, you will receive the complete kit, it is a serious offer, but expensive. I think you should be an experienced model builder, to start such a project (and i know you did not start to build up your Hurtigruten model because of that reason).

If you want to see a cheaper, but not so detailed alternative, you can have a look to this link here:

Ralf, from the bottom of my heart, thank you very much for that description.

                              A long building project indeed.
