A personal website of a Musician who served on board the SS Norway: a wonderful site with images and other memorabilia.

            http://www.childrensmusicworkshop.co...y/Welcome.html

The website has been added to the Online Cruising-page on the CaptainsVoyage.com (link number 131).

Should you now of other sites which has not yet been listed there, please take a moment to fill us in so that we can gather all links on one place.

That's my Picasa site ... I wish I would have taken more pictures... and I especially wish I had a better camera... the digital camera I used back then was a first-gen digital and thus the smaller images. I would shoot a bunch of pics and then go back to the stateroom and upload them onto my laptop, clear the camera memory and start again. Halfway through my cruise I stayed too long in the hot tub on the Sun Deck and ended up with 2nd degree burns. A newbie in the Caribbean for certain.

That's a great album to look through. I just wish i could have experienced the wonderful atmosphere that obviously existed aboard the Norway. Must be great memories for you, thanks for sharing them with all of us.

Thank you Steve B. - Yes they are some of the best memories of my life for sure... there was something very magical about the Norway... maybe it was because she was like the finest of aged wines ... unique and grandeur, but when I sat in the room where all her plaques were placed - I think they were from ports of call - it was almost as if I could imagine the countless people from ages gone by walking through the passages. It was truly an experience to feel the power of the thrust under my feet as the warm air raced through my hair.

I was truly devastated to learn I would never be able to journey aboard her again. Now when I look through these photos I'm torn between happy memories and profound grief. I am just happy this web site exists to share memories and stories of her. It makes me feel the spirit of the ship lives on. And every day I look on eBay to see if anyone is offering a memory of the Norway... speaking of which ... has anyone purchased any of the oil paintings of her in Alang from the artist on eBay? I keep licking around the idea of purchasing one ... but I want to make sure they are genuine hand-painted works of art. The seller, at one time, also had things like gauges from the boilers and state room numbers -- but the cost + shipping the items was astronomical.

..and I agree with Pakarang on the point that the painting is like having that of a deceased person ... but at least she is complete in the image - I can use my imagination and put her in a sunny place...

Youtube is being very, very slow right now. I will have to remember to watch it later. I really want to see behind the closed doors.
