The story of Royal Viking Line

The story of Royal Viking Line

I have been planning to include the Story of Royal Viking Line on captainsvoyage.com mainpage and was wondering if there are any members amongst us that would like to take upon themselves this task to gather and write down this story.

It doesn't need to be extremely long, but I would love to include the main dates and significant history of this now closed luxury cruise line.

Please send me an e-mail if you feel this would be something for you.
With best regards from Jan-Olav Storli

Have you seen this facility on Google? I'd ignored it until now, how long has it been there?

Nope, hadn't seen that one before... now, if only someone would be so kind to make it into a nice little story for publication on our main page...

I would have done it, but I'm not going to take upon myself any more projects as I have more than enough at hand at the moment.

I know I offered to write the story of Royal Viking Line, having had the pleasure of working with the company from 1972 untill 1987. I worked in both Oslo as well as the sales- and marketing office in San Francisco, and being responsible for almost all of the Cruise Atlases as well as travelling to a large no. of ports for inspections. Also being on the team that developed the RV sun. However, am running out of time as I'm cleaning out a house making it ready for sale. Have not forgotten my promise, just need some more time. will be back!
Did you know that this fall it's 50 years since the decision being made to contract the
Royal Viking Star thus setting off the process that eventually did become the Royal Viking Line.
        Have a nice Summer!

        best regards

Thank you so very much... I remember somebody did offer to do it once, but had forgotten completely who (hence the request). Thank you so much for taking the time to put it together, I'm sure it'll be well worth the wait!

50 years you say... ? WWAOWW... incredible as well, now, that is an anniversary to celebrate! I think I might pop the Royal Viking Aquavit bottle..

Sterkoder... I could have sent you a PM, but do you think it would be OK for me to add this image to the main page somewhere?

I have checked my Skald Club collection and found that my Skald Club magazine finish in 1993 and are replaced by a broadsheet style newsletter called the Skald Voyager - I only have 1994 issues for this - what happened from 1995 onwards - ????

Interesting thing about the Summer issue of 1994 for the Skald Voyager is that it features the fact that Captain Reidulf Maalen was going to be the Skald Club host for the November 1994 Southern Cross cruise on the Sun along with the past entertainer Terry Franklin.
