Inevitable really, and after that horrible disfiguring conversion, probably best to let her go...

to bring her back in Original looks it will cost a lot.
but then again, sales the scrap from al the extra steel it maybe can be 50/50.
but the concrete for ballast is also with asbestos in it.
maybe even cheaper to bring the ''king olav'' back and restore her

I bid you FAREWELL good old Haakon Jarl.... you have served well for so many years, both as a coastal steamer and hotel/ restaurant ship.

              Your memory will not fade.

If we look on that tow as Håkon Jarl, one could bust into tears.

For me, it makes it a bit easier to see these pictures if I see a construction of steel being towed away.
Håkon Jarl as the beautiful old coastal express ship, died the very same day they started to vandalize and rape the ship with their crazy conversion.

But of course, and anyway..., farewell, your memories of your days along our coast will never bee forgotten.

Thanks for that link, Thijs... I was looking for demolition photos myself last night and could not find any.

I wish they could do the demolishing, and take pictures along the way, by removing all the ugly parts.... imagine if we could see her as she once was?

PS: Looks like the starboard bridgewing has been wacked out of position too.

Thijs, if ever you need letters with accents then Word should help. I don't know which one you have - mine is the old Word 2003, but if you open up a new document and click on Insert, then Symbol you can find whatever you want. Click on the letter, click insert and it will appear on your document. Then you can copy it to your post. .Å å You can find umlauts, French accents, all sorts.
