I don't think so. They didn't have HURTIGRUTEN painted on the sides then. (No need, most people along the coast know that anyhow)

  • "Nordlys" northbound from Tromsø.

    • You are such a master of the night time shots in what appears to be total darkness!

      Awesome! Absolutely awesome!

      • It's a long time since we've had a new Nordlys photo - so here she is in the evening sun, Molde, 22nd June 2016.

        Cheers,

          • Here is the Nordlys - coming your way!

When it comes to the so-called Stralsund ships, I have never been a great fan of them. I think they are a bit.... let's call it "boring" (in lack of a better word) in design because of their square shape, particularly on the stern. I would have loved seeing these ships being rebuilt a bit, with larger windows like the suites up on the stern of Trollfjord/Midnatsol, and perhaps even balconies behind the bridge(?)

                • Looking forward to the summer when you will have more light all day long - though, these night shots are so well done! I should be taking a night-time photo class with you as a teacher! These night time images takes me back to my childhood at Rørvik, seeing the ships pass our house twice each night.

                      • A few more Nordlys images, this time from Trollfjord, arriving in Rørvik on 19 June 2017.

TF was on time, Nordlys a little late, so we waited for Nordlys to come onto the berth in front of us.

Like a shark fin appearing over the hills.

Nearly there, and probably very aware that there were many pairs of eyes watching her arrival ...

Then the 'classic hurtigruten approaching' shot.

Before diving across our bow and berthing perfectly - and quickly.

                        Cheers,

                        Mark.

                        • Neatly parked.

                          Wakey-wakey.

And left behind as Trollfjord backed out and headed north.

                          Cheers,

                          • A few days later, 26 June 2017, and Nordlys is 'hurtigruten du jour' in Honnigsvåg, so time for a toddle, coffee, waffle etc.

Excursionists out of the way, here come the Norwegians!

Whilst at the special visitors entrance and exit bikes and wheelchairs were coming off, ambulance crew going on.

No 'IKEA marketplace' here - not much has changed since TFDS days, including much of the branding.

Lots of lovely things in the cafe.

Not many on this one. We did see a lot of 'coffee club' activity during our time in the village, just not this day.

It's just me, but this ship and others which are "glitzy" with multicolours turn me right off. I am probably being unfair but this ship (and others) look like a floating casino-come-Dali nightmare. Sorry!!

                          • Excellent photo-report from my beloved Rørvik!

You even managed to include my step-grandmothers apartment in one of your shots!
