This picture lets her appear longer than she is actually. Also here you can see, that the outside deck F area would be also my favourite place during the night. No special blue or extra bright Illumination. A place where you can watch the night scenery as ist best.

  • I love that latest shot from Grindøya. It is superb and what draws me in is the lights from the panorama lounge.... makes the place on board a perfect place to be.

              • Great moments in the life of a working ship - the only ship in the fleet built north of the Arctic Circle!

"A door must be open or closed"

                • 28th June this year - on the way back from the west coast (didn't want to go) to Oslo (looking forward to seeing the family), we found the new viewpoint on the Stranda to Hellesylt road. After decades of there not being anywhere decent to park and see the view on Norwegian roads there is a rash of these lovely (and rather expensive?) places now.

The first view looked vaguely interesting ...

The second view looked rather more interesting (a litter bin with a view) ...

But when you actually got there, it looked more like this ...

Zoom in a little bit and a plucky little lady is chug, chug, chugging along (with her wonderful new 'boy racer' exhausts) towards Geiranger.

And at the limit of the zoom she still looked tiny in the huge environment she found herself.

When we left Ålesund I'd got used to the idea that we wouldn't see another Hurtigruter this year, then this happened - made me smile.
                  Cheers,

                  Mark.

Still seems odd to have funnels so close to people on the stern deck.......looking rather obtrusive.

In fact only the right one is really a funnel, the other one is a dummy. Depending on the wind direction, the stern deck is not really a cozy place.
But this is a result of her conversion. Originally it was never planned to have passengers in this area.

                • Thanks for that, Ralf. You are right, that aft sundeck (?) looks very unprotected from cold and wind. She looks - well rather messy compared with the older ships.

Daylight is coming back to your town. And a few passengers can now be spotted on the ship...

                    • THAT IS A VERY NICE PHOTO!

The mood is amazing - the ship almost glows golden at her very best in that photo! Well done, BRAVO!
