    Re: ::: Vesterålen :::

Thanks Seagull and Ralf for your comments.
I was thinking that maybe the chimney makes a bit of a noise too in that area (in addition to the stair).
Just like you Seagull, I like the idea of being able to get outside quickly (to be able to grab another piece of cloth quickly for example).
Anyway, if anyone has tried cabins on that deck and/or at that particular location, I'd be glad to have feedback for next time, even If I'm not in a hurry!
I found the interior of this ship very cosy indeed. And the fact it has stabilizers is good news!

That is pretty impressive (and scary). Do you know what happened? Is it just because of the wind, or was there an engine problem as well?
It feels like she dropped the anchor in the very last sequence.

Somebody have found the worst possible angles to give that Halloween effect.

She is under perfect control and handling a normal approach in rough weather.
In the last picture she has reached shelter and get ready to go alongside, which may involve dropping an anchor to help at time of departure.

If this is the case it is a success! In the first half of the video it seems she is about to hit the rocks. But looking at it more closely, you are actually probably right (which is a relief).

When lying in Molde, Lofoten arrived.Among me,there were many other that had taken position on the aft sun deck to take pictures of here.

Leaving Molde,Lofoten moored on front of us.

At the final stop Ålesund, midnight.

So there we was, back in Ålesund where we started. It had been a nice trip, weather had been good and the crew had been wonderful as always!
I had travelled with Vesterålen for the first time so it was a new experience to me to know this ship.Compared to the newer generation ships i have to admit that Vesterålen was a little bit `strange` to walk around on.The deck plan was in some way not `logical`compared to the newer ships. The rear cabin section is as we know built later,it could have had a better connection with the rest of the ship i think.
But after all,how much can we demand? The ship is now 30years or so and time travells on.The most important when u travel is a nice crew, good coffee and food, clean cabins and wonderful nature to watch.
All that we had on Vesterålen!

Great photos Helge. We've also always found Vesterålen to be a friendly and welcoming ship on our brief coffee trips on board in Honningsvåg - good to hear that she's like that to travel on too.
                            Cheers,

Thank you for this report, HurtigruteHelge. I especially like your picture #246/5, in my opinion it shows that Vesteralen has very special view points and spotter places. At the first sight i found the mid-generation ships ugly ferries (i visited "Lyngen" once), but now i know that they have something special which should make a travel on her a very cosy experience.
