Now, that is the HURTIGRUTEN I have always loved... the old generation.

Actually so thrilled that they have returned her to the VDS colors... does anyone remember that HRG-black funnel livery? That was NOT suited fora vessel of this caliber!

I remember! She looks marvellous in her new wardrobe. Will be on her for my 8th round voyage on 25th March.

I never get tired of these images.... they are superb and bring back so many fond memories from my earlier years.

The day we no longer see these ships, will be a truly sad day. I just make an effort to make one last trip on at least LOFOTEN before she is retired. Perhaps only to Rørvik and back.

I thought I should share these images from 2016, of a ship that appears to be incredibly popular amongst many.

The images are dated JUNE 20th 2016:

Yes nari, now there are only 18 days until you are on board the "Lofoten" departing from Bergen 25.03

Wow, Bengt. Such an appetizer! Look at the warm lights in the Panorama Salong! This is the place to be now (after waving to Bengt and the cormorants from the starbord bridge wing, of course!)

Beautiful photos of a beautiful vessel. Thank you DS and Bengt. A bit over a fortnight to go, and I hope to be landing in Bergen.

That image is brilliant, the lights escaping from her windows are so inviting in times of darkness. Imagine sitting on board there, with a great book, a generous glass of red wine and hearing the faint noise of the engine in the background. Those are experiences that will not be the same on a new ship.

I hope that when it is time to retire her, she is not dumped on a shore the way the old Finnmarken was. It just looks silly.

I hope she will have a fruitful future, and will not end up like her other unfortunate sisters of her time.
