Are you travelling the whole route Bergen-Kirkenes (or even Bergen-Kirkenes-Bergen)? In 2011, I was very lucky... clear, cold, calm weather for the whole trip, and there is nothing more beautiful than snowy Raftsundet on a clear winter night under moon, stars, and northern light In 2006, the weather wasn't that good but a bit of rocking on the good old ship can also be fun
Have you seen this older thread about Internet and phone connection. You might find it useful.

I did see that - but I wanted to know if anyone had an update. I travelled on Nordstjernen in February 2012 and it was excellent so I am hoping for the same experience on Lofoten. I am doing Bergen-Kirkenes-Trondheim and then having a night in my favourite Norwegian city.

Although I travelled Trondheim - Troms° in June aboard Lofoten, I was ashore in these places for longer periods and so had a Norwegian sim card for my iPad. I just didn't think to check out what the wifi situation would have been on the ship otherwise. I really should have checked that out - sorry.

According to the German "Hurtigforum" Lofoten has no WiFi yet.

"Lofoten" on her way to Skjerv°y this evening.
It was really dark and rainy but I managed to get this image of her.

Great atmosphere in your photo - really cosy onboard on such a night.

      Splendid.
I'm fashinated about that each recurring shot has some new details in them.
This time the green glow of the outside deck 2 captured me.

Thanks for the comment from both of you

Have they done something to the old lady?

She looks so beautiful in that dusk feeling image- a really great shot me thinks.

Is that blue mast light something new on Lofoten?

        Hello Tommi
Seems so, this was the first time I saw that the mast was illuminated with blue light.

      Greetings All.

First post for ages - I haven't disappeared!

      Unusual Lofoten story here: http://www.newsinenglish.no/2013/10/...d-hurtigruten/

I'm also interested in whether the "blue mast" in a permanent feature. If so certainly wont help with Nordlys photography next March

5 or 6 cabins have to be rebuilt due to that they are permanently destroyed by the fishy water.

I wonder if not "my" cabin 102 will be one of those?!? In that case: what a pity, it was a really cozy cabin.

I traveled with MS Lofoten this past February, and there was still no wifi available to passengers. I asked the tour guide about it and he told me that it was in the planning but probably not in the near future. I wouldn't count on it for next February (but maybe you'll get lucky!).

          Dear all,
it's now time for an exclusive world premier for my small movie about the pleasure of traveling with M/S Lofoten.
Please enjoy the nice feeling of the sea wind in your face while standing on the outer decks as well as the warm cozy feeling of the interior. Please also ignore the fact that the movie doesn't have any kind of script at all, but I'm convinced that you will find it enjoyable anyway!

Please view in HD and fullscreen, it's really worth it.

Very good Tommi! This is far better than the reality series they feed us on NRK!! This is reality!

Seems I was the first to view your video - don't have an account at Youtube, so just commenting here
As one familiar with travelling with MS Lofoten, I think you captured the mood very well, also I think some close-ups are really nice. What I miss a bit is just that we never see the ship as a whole in this video... so, if one who is not familiar with Lofoten is viewing the video, he might wonder "what's the overall external appearance of this ship, after all?" But the video has indeed a nice "travel feeling" and forward motion.

YES I found that SO enjoyable Tommi!
Loved all the time you lingered around 'my' Deck A!, reflections in windows connecting inside and outside, blue hour and cosyness, the sense of the old days in the clever retreat from colour sweeping from lounge to stair and back. Oh and the music choice and the porthole to end with.

I understand Gestumblindi's point about "non-hurtigruters" missing a whole ship view though. On various recent trips such as the Fram cruise last May I'm gradually posting at the moment, I had consciously tried to take photos of the ship at every port of call. But even that is not the same as having some sea in between. I was thinking exactly these sort of thoughts just recently in connection with Serenissima. I am so glad now that I wasn't able to go on her first return to Norway, because I would have missed being in Trondheim and watching the tiny speck in the distance of the fjord getting closer and closer. (Can really appreciate that now I've a future cruise booked on her! )

I really liked that video Tommi. Hurtigruten should use it in their marketing !

Thank you all for your comments - they are very appreciated after many hours of editing.
I completely agree that there should be some outside footage too, but that really should be captured from another ship, land or a helicopter. Naturally I kind of don't have that kind footage available for the moment. Instead I did put the focus on emphasizing the feeling about being on board.
I actually have some more footage available, but that didn't kind of fit into this little film, maybe I make something else of that later.

Thank you very much Svein. It's hard to be stressed on board Lofoten!

Wonderful, Tommi. Gestumblindi is right with his opinion, but we all know about the possibilities being on board. So as long as Hurtigruten won't engange you for a trip and supply a helicopter to get the perfect advertisement video, this masterpiece remains as a terrific rememberance for all us experienced travellers. So good to see all the details and onboard views again. Thank you so much!
