You will be on another ship, or in the area "by land"?

I'll be more than happy to meet with other CVF members during that trip. But it is still a long time away...

On the Boudicca, Tromsø for 2½ days / 2 nights.

I've also just realised that we were both in Ålesund on 04 March 2012.

        Oh, sweet! What a coincidence.
I may have picture of your ship coming into Ålesund, would you be interested? (although I'm not sure where to put them up, in the Ålesund discussion maybe?).

          Re: ::: Lofoten :::

          Hello all,

First, thank you for sharing nice photos here.

I still haven't traveled on board MS Lofoten but I came to visit her while I was on a stopover in Tromso on September 3. I went to the harbour around 23:30 and she was already docked. I could not get inside until 23:45 so I strolled around for a few minutes (but it was nice and almost warm and I was so happy to be back here up north).

Then I got inside and it was strange as I saw no passengers at all, only staff on duty... I am due to having a cruise on MS Loften next January and I asked if by chance the room I had booked (302) was available and If I could have a look inside. And it was! Here we go, coming from the reception:

It is so nice and tiny. I guess I'll love the minimalist aspect of the voyage... I just hope I can fit in the bed!

Here is a photo of the shower just in front of room 302 accross the corridor (I was curious to see how it looked like!)

I have other inside photos but I don't want to be redundant with previous forumers who have already kindly shared their photos ... Here are just a few ones:

          http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...psb5352c54.jpg

I loved that part of the ship:

          http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...ps37611214.jpg

Now I'm impatient to see this little ship "live" and working! I already understand it will be an experience very different from the other ships I am familar with.

nb: Tell me if you prefer that I insert the photos directly in the post or I just give the link to it (I just did not want the post to be too bulky)!

Welcome to our friendly forum. You will soon find your way around and hopefully become a regular and "multi-subject" contributer, as there is a lot more than Hurtigruten to experience here.

It would be better to insert the pictures directly.

There is a limit of 6 pictures (incl. smilies) per post but, as many members are on slow connections it is better to break it down into 2-3 pics/post.

                  Great, PanjiS!

No one will get tired of pictures of our beloved ship, even if they are well known from other members. So go ahead with them, we are enjoying all of them. Such good news that various members will have a trip on MS Lofoten and also even in a cabin on my favourite deck, which would be also my choice on an eventual next trip. You will see and feel very quickly that it is in fact a different experience on a traditional ship and it will get soon a place where you feel at home. During the 11 days i had the joy of travelling on her she became my home and there will be the day when i will return to "my ship".

Other than outside (favorite area : the bridge's aisle), my favorite lounge is the panorama lounge (second picture of your post), with the red chairs. I like it especially when the ship stops in port, it's a great area for watching loading/unloading of cargo with the crane. And for me it sums up perfectly the warmth and the mood of the ship, it's small, very comfy, very warm, I feel so good in this lounge. During my first ever Hurtigruten trip (April 2006), we stayed in the lounge during the cruise through the Raftsundet (Northbound). It was pitch dark and we would follow the route on the map, from red beacon to green beacon to further red beacon. We had treated ourselves to a glass of beer, we were all alone in the lounge, it was so quiet and surreal.
My "least" favorite is the bar (your first picture).

Sarnia, this could have been my own words. Yes, the Panorama Lounge definetely is my favourite place inside. You described the reasons perfectly. Plus the advantage to be very quick outside beside the bridge, if necessary!

My favourite place on the Kong Olav in port was in a forward lounge - I think it was the smoking lounge but it was worth enduring the smell because it was the best place for looking down on the cargo area, watching them load and unload. See here for my 1990 photo, the 8th one down. But I only did that once or twice if we were going to stay for a while and there was time to hang around. Otherwise I was at the head of the gangway ready for it to drop so that I could dash down, have a quick look round, and take photos before the signal sounded to re-board. On the move I'd be mostly outside, well wrapped up, unless it was meal/sleep time!

I see she's heading south instead of north from Honningsvåg today - going to Alta instead of fighting throught the storm in East Finnmark. KH already there having done the same yesterday.
