What a delight to see clear and razor sharp images of these fine ships!

She`s back! Look at her shiny "new" hull and waterline, they must have given her a thorough sand blasting.

Look at those lines in the third picture. Isn't she looking like a yacht? Such elegance is missed on the new ship. Such dynamic movement. This design is something special and a big reason for the fascination of Lofoten, Harald Jarl/Andrea, Kong Olav, Ragnvald Jarl/Sjokurs and Finnmarken. Fantastic picture, Speedbird!

Once again some superb pictures can't wait until July when I'll be sailing on her especially as she is looking in excellent condition now. Regard's davi737.

I just love the first picture in your series! An excellent example of how good pictures taken against the light can be.

Thank you all! You really make those cold moments when taking pictures up here worthwhile!

Due to VEEERY strong wind, southbound Lofoten is sailing Bodø-Harstad nonstop today.

That means she will cancel Risøyhamn, Sortland, Stokmarknes, Svolvær and Stamsund today.

Google AIS vesseltracker shows that LOFOTEN sailed through Tjeldsundet (not Raftsundet, as is the the regular route).

And she will sail close to the Hamarøy and Steigen areas on her way to Bodø this afternoon.

I see. That would be the right weather for you and Harald Jarl, i guess?

Oh yesss, Ralf, you are sooo right!!! But it happens so rarely that it's harder than winning the lottery...
= One has to be in the right place at the right time, and pray a lot for no technical at that moment!

So you should first try to win the lottery, than you can live one year on the ship and I am sure sooner or later the weather is very stormy.

The Atlantic is running down... or is the webcam swinging?

Another nice day for taking pictures in Kristiansund this afternoon.
Finally, I managed to get "Lofoten" after her maintenance visit to Fredrikshavn.
Her hull is slowly getting the "wear-and-tear" look back, and already a short time after getting painted, they seem to have some sort of trouble with the white colour.
For a reason unknown, paint has been removed in patches and a green basic has been applied before white colour again will be painted on the spots.
Anyway, here's our lovely old lady leaving Kristiansund southbound, and I'm trying to "brush up" the motif a bit by adding the bow spear of "Anne Margrethe"

Details, for those of us enjoying that

What a sharp and beautiful bow!

They don't make'em like this anymore...

And here are the spots of torn off white paint

I rather like these kind of life boats over the orange "tubes" of today...

Not the worst of shapes I've seen...
