Lofoten is now in dry dock:

Unfortunately, the Hurtigruten webcam pictures in the screensaver by bt.no are not updated anymore. Also their main webcam page http://www.bt.no/kamera/. So you have to click on each ship to see the newest pictures. I wrote an e-mail to bt.no, and asked if they can repair that. If others are also using this screensaver, it would be nice if you can also contact bt.no....

One of my really old pen-drawings dated from as far back as 1989 showing the Lofoten and Vesterålen side by side: Lofoten with blue hull, which she sported one full year back in the 80's:

Dear Jan-Olav, that is indeed a delight from “the boy who loved Hurtigruten”. So very lovingly drawn, and I am relishing every observation and detail.

This is among my very favourite images of the venerable Hurtigrute Lofoten: much because the water is so calm, because of all the white portholes and the funnel markings: she is such a lovely ship, and look so inviting.

I'm not sure where this image comes from but I'm pretty sure it is from an OVDS brochure.

Also, I can not tell where the image is taken but I'm sure there is some other fans here who can fill in the missing details and where it is taken.

I also thought of a port at the extreme north - mostly because of the vegetation around.

It is indeed one of the better images of the ship: the funnel is so much nicer with those colors.

The first one could be the maiden arrival (she is so shiny, though that was in the 60s), but I can't tell which is the other ship in the second photo: I guess the tall davits are the biggest clue, but didn't Nordnorge also have similar davits?

What about the placing of windows, and number of windows?

Time to 'bump' Lofoten up on this page: I have posted these clips once before but since that was on the old forum, I thought it could be OK to repost them again here: Enjoy your watching!

On the second picture I think this is "Kong Olav" .The windows doesn't seems to fit with "NN" windows back on port side. But I am not sure if this is right.
Maybe Sterkoder can sort this out?

I have to think a bit longer on the one in the background there on picture nr. 2, but I'm 150% certain that the one on picture nr. 1 is not "Lofoten"...
                                That must be the "Finnmarken".

EDIT: I belive the vessel in the background there on picture nr. 2 is "Harald Jarl".
