Easy, good buddy...., take a mouthful of coffee and count to ten
This is just example images, going just a bit off topic as some of us "always" do, in the discussion about hull colours. That's my understanding, anyhow

I will say this, one thing i like about our CV forum is the fact we can stray off topic, it often adds great interest to the forum. In so many other forums on the internet you often see 'heavy handed' administrators wielding their big hammers and removing posts when someone goes even slightly 'off topic'. This normally fragments the thread and leaves it with a clinical feel. I personally could never feel comfortable in such surroundings - always having to think before you speak. This forum feels more like a conversation that you would have with friends at home or down the pub, you can chat about a subject and throw in comparisons etc. This is what Ombugge has done. The only thing i might have done differently in this case is i might have made the images slightly smaller, just to make it clear they were only here for comparison.

So yes, have a cup of coffee, relax, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of our great forum!

I'm in complete agreement, it's so good to have a forum where it's possible to hold a conversation, particularly such an international conversation as we have with the CV family.

There I go, off-topic again time to put the kettle on

Skipet gjenopptar ruten i Hurtigruten fra Bergen 11.05.2010"

What is wrong with it? I think it was in a shipyard in February?

I think Eilun is just quoting a message from the Hurtigruten Company.
Maybe it's time for another sip of coffee?

From 19.04.2010 to 11.05.2010, MS Lofoten will undergo an unscheduled maintenance period to repair her main engine, with sailings Bergen - Kirkenes - Bergen canceled.

The ship will resume the Hurtigruten route from Bergen on 11.05.2010.

Very well translated there Clipper. Your written Norwegian is better then mine.

I missed the earlier outburst re: going OT on this forum:

If it offend somebody to see pictures of other vessels on a thread about MS Lofoten I'm sorry, but the discussion at the time was about hull colours and my input was about that.

We cannot have a thread for EVERY conceivable topic, hence going OT is necessary at times. If I had created a new thread to comment on something in this thread it would have lost something, and probably been confusing.
Let's not get to where cross referencing is necessary. We will always get back on topic in the end.

Thanks Ombugge. I had to look up "med følge" but the rest was plain sailing

MS Lofoten has reached Frederikshavn in this moment. I hope the danish photographers are there?

Thank you Clipper for the translation.
I admit I was to lazy translating from one language I don't speak to an other language I don't speak much better.

Hope deflections in the crank is the right translation for Lofotens illness....

                        Aha, so that's it.

"Deflections in the crank" is 100% descriptive though I'm sure there is a proper term in technical English.

It will probably be something like "bent crankshaft", "crankshaft out of true", "crankshaft imbalance" or even "worn main bearings" depending on the exact nature of the problem. It's possible they won't know until they have stripped the engine down. I guess the sypmtom was excessive engine vibratrion.

Nice video Joakim but she appears to be sailing with her foredeck cargo hatch open

Is that within regulations? In the Royal Navy someone would be for a court martial.

It depends where she was at that time. If she was approaching a port, it would be natural, but even if she's steaming inshore it's not uncommon to arrange/shift cargo if needed. The reason could also be maintenance on or around the hatch. You can also see that the crane is in operation.
