Fantastic colours in Kristiansund this afternoon, and 30 minutes late in to the dock came "Lofoten" on her southbound voyage
(Oh yes, I have to get used to all the buttons and selections on my new camera).

Not completely satisfied with the result here, but fairly ok without tripod

I don't know, but well...., maybe you can say that
Could have wanted "Lofoten" itself a little brighter, but this was what I managed in the short time I had just this time...

            Dear 'Sterkoder' -
I've always used P (program-auto) on my camera, but alas, low-light shots were totally shitty (small sensor), so I kinda gave up on that...
FINALLY got my lame brain in gear and tried S (shutter-priority) 6-8 seconds for "moon in dark evening sky", and WOW bingo yikes heavens!!!
Dunno if your "animal" have such settings, but judging from your pics I'd say try 3-5 seconds for this kind of lighting and work from there.
Initially after getting the idea (actually remembering, because I did manual photography for 25 years before going digital and that was what we did) I noticed what shutter-speed the cam offered in auto (aperture always fully open in the dark) then tried S-speeds from there and up. The blessing of digi-cams are that you can test and instantly see the results without waiting a week for pics to return from the shop...
Anything to get good shots of our dear ships, eh? We must remember to share photo tips & experiences even if we have different cameras.

I totally agree.., so therefore I didn't need an expencive DSLR (Mohahahaha).

Seriously, thank you for valuable tips..., and yes, my "animal" have all kinds of settings

There you go - try Shutter-preferred setting and 3-7 seconds! No need yet for a DSLR...

Looking forward to see the result of our experimenting!

LO is now in fredrikshamn (denmark).
The right place to be because of some problems with the old B&W engine

Why's everybody saying that...? So did my camera salesman, a professional photographer say. Does it stand written in my forehead that I'm not yet ready for the DSLR-jump...?

Irony and joke aside; hope LO is all right down in Fredrikshavn and that they take good care of her.

There she is. Crane is working. Hope she will have a successful repair and run well again.

By the way... no comment an Hurtigrute website about this change in route...

Those pages are not the place to look into if there are changes of route with the hurtigrutes.
Wonder how big the change have to be for them to write about it on the hurtigruten homepages???
Maybe a vessel has to sink??

This news would not be positive for their PR departement. The marketing guys would not allow to write that on their homepage...

Honestly, i would expect such news on a website. Each airport give s detailed flight information...

                                Lofoten - scheduled maintenance

I believe Lofoten's currently out of service as planned maintenance period, not unplanned "breakdown/problems". UK Website schedule shows periods out of service for all ships and Lofoten's current round trip is one of them.

Apologies if everyone already knows this.

                                Best Wishes,
