I really enjoyed these images and am amazed how calm it is! In 2002 I was on a ship smaller than Lofoten and it was tough going at times, but it was certainly an excellent way to get up close and personal with this environment. Thanks for revival of those times!

Just the one really bad crossing on the Drakes Passage heading to the Falklands!

Delighted to see photos of your Antarctic adventure, Linray. As my own voyages there were on Nordnorge and Fram, I am so interested to see how Midnatsol fared. How many passengers were there on yours?
I like your photo #514/1 with the new dark blue jackets, and the new larger capacity boats. How were they, and the organisation of landings generally?

Hi Seagull, yes, finally managing to get photos onto the Forum. With the upgrade it is so much quicker!
If I remember correctly there were just over 300 passengers which meant there was always plenty of space for everyone. However did mean there were too many to land at Port Lockroy but the girls came on board and gave a presentation.
The jackets are super, so many little pockets etc. that you forgot where you put things! The zodiacs took 18 to 20 people at a time and the landings were so well organised. Split into twelve groups and everyone had a time slot for going off the ship and it all worked wonderfully smoothly, probably quicker having the larger boats. The trip was fantastic and I am now about to start another thread to put on photos of the whole trip, from Santiago, Patagonia, Antarctica and the Falklands.

Oh I would love to see your pics of Patagonia....in some ways I liked that country better than Antarctica but we also had an excellent tour guide .It makes such a difference to the ambience.of a trip.

So to show off my geeky side / geekier side... externally, have we noticed any changes to the ship after she came back from her long journey?

OPPPSSS.... Shame on me, I hadn't even noticed she's been away. That is how well I pat attention the ships while at work.... they come and go, but hadn't noticed Midnatsol has been away for many months.

                      Great image - as always.

Summer in norway. Ms midnatsol cancelled today the stops in svolvaer and stamsund due to the weather conditions and headed directly from stokmarknes to bodö.

More like autumn right now. I actually FEEL like we haven't had TRUE, REAL summer yet.
