Greetings from Czech Republik after 640 car km today through winter weather partially looking like this scenery. I am waiting either for warmer times or for anothe opportunity to watch this from the warm and cozy panorama lounge of a Hurtigruten ship. I can feel the fascination of a winter Hurtigruten trip. I bet they have less than 70 round passengers on this trip. Heaven!!

          • Despite the images haven been taken in end of June, they certainly have a "winter-look" to them.

            • Did a trip on Richard With in November last year with a friend of mine. He had never been to the north before, so it was a nice experience for him to go and see the aurora borealis. We traveled from Bodø to Kirkenes.

Must say it was a very interesting experience, as Richard With was the first Hurtigrute I traveled on back in 1995. Nice to see it again, though not much has changed, it was sadly visibly worn in certain places, and I hope it is due inn for a refit of the public areas like Nordnorge that I traveled on recently had.

                • Great to see you around and with so many images in the hurtigrute threads Eirik. I haven't anaged to get across to Norway recently, so seeing your photos of the ships is even more appreciated.

As for Richard With, well, there is a very big difference between 'refit' as in renovation of wear and tear, and 'refit' as in interior complete makeover. It is due to the actual ownership of the ships Richard With and Nordlys that they have not had the makeover to the 'New Arctic Interior' concept you experienced on Nordnorge. My own personal feeling is that I wish it could have been Nordkapp that had been retained in her original style. With Karl Erik Harr's collaboration with the architect she was was the most totally designed, far beyond just a painting here and there, and described by the Harr as among his finest achievements. I could imagine that in the future she could have gone on to become a highly popular 'retro' experience of her generation of ships as Lofoten is now.

Sure thing, I really enjoyed myself on board both MS Richard With last November and MS Nordnorge recently. I generally take as many photos as i can of Hurtigruten ships when I have the opportunity to do so, getting up early in the morning to catch the ships heading in the opposite direction.

Sorry about using the wrong therm for the make over, but in my opinion the change, especially in the public spaces was so significant that I felt the use of "refit" was warranted, may have gotten a little bit carried away there. Shame that the ownership of Richard With holds them back, as it (to me at least) looks like it's in dire need of a make over like MS Nordnorge had.

That last line of yours cheered me up as I have just been looking at your photos of Nordnorge and in particular the photo #423 photo5 "Multe Bakery" on deck 7. That looks a really nice space where I was immediately imagining myself sitting, and I have the feeling that of the four ships that have had the new interiors it is Nordnorge that I shall probably prefer.
