A typical Rorvik night: wet and occasionally cold wind blew across the dock:

I kind of like this image: I call it "Into the night"

No doubt she once sailed under the house-flag of OVDS:

When walking up to the Christmas tree waiting for the ships departure, I saw this motif: the image is not that clear or super-sharp but it symbolizes the purpose these ships have: the Norwegian coastal community's sea-taxi:

Then, a few minutes behind her schedule she dropped the lines and headed northwards. By now, the morning after, she should have crossed the Arctic Circle and today at 15:30 there was going to be an Arctic Circle christening ceremony held on board.

              Utsteder Hurtigruten ASA

Due to the MS Richard With incident, Hurtigruten
will take MS Nordlys out of lay and into
Hurtigruten service from Bergen on the January 29th.

Guests previously booked on MS Richard With will be
transferred to MS Nordlys, which is the sistership
of MS Richard With. Hurtigruten will with this
change be able to offer an equally good product and
service level as before the MS Richard With
              incident.

Wow- having a sister ship just laying around doing nothing sure comes in handy sometimes.........

Ralf-or anyone- have you heard the extent of Richard With's damage yet???

It is not a good sign when there is an extra ship. When does the Hurtigruten contract with the Norweigan government expire?

The contract is running until 2013, i think. But they made the change, that they may reduce the service by one ship during winter. That's why they have now one extra ship.

                          RW has left Stavanger

It appears from Hurtigruten's website 'Skipene nå' that RW is now under tow. At this moment she has almost reached a point due south of Kristiansand.

And the blue one on the web-cam picture from RW is "Professor Kurentsov".

I found a fantastic tool here the other day, http://www.vesseltracker.com

It require a registration if you want to use it to the full, and it can be used to track vessels, find ship in ports around the world, upload pictures, see other photographers pictures, see ship positions and much more.

The reg. is free, and I enjoy it a lot....
