Later that evening I was ambling along past the fishmarket, heading with photographic intentions in the direction of the tall ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl, when I saw Nordstjernen’s familiar funnel in the distance! Unknown to me, our Tom, as in “McNikon” had been at the terminal when the ship moved off and round into Vågen, and you can see his wonderful images here. So although we didn’t meet, we did succeed in getting complementary images to document the entire story of Nordstjernen’s movements that day!

When I woke the following morning I could hardly believe I was still in Bergen, so blue was the sky and so bright the sunshine! And so, in my final couple of hours in Norway, I took some more photographs of our dear lady Nordstjernen! It has to be said you are seeing “second tries” at some of these as I attempted to judge appropriate exposure in such very different conditions from the day before!

First I tried to show she was actually in Bergen by including some familiar landmarks in the picture, such as Håkon's Hall and the Rosenkrantz Tower…

      …the Hotel Havnekontoret…

        …and, once again, Statsraad Lehmkuhl.

Then , just as I was taking some details of bow and anchor, I heard a familiar Bergen sound –the chug-chug of Beffen! No trip to Bergen can be considered complete without a ride on this most charming of ferries, and how much more so when affording other views of Nordstjernen.

Just how emotional can it get…my favourites Nordstjernen and Beffen together in one picture.

So that was my Goodbye to our North Star – at least for the time being.

Take care dear ship. So that if all goes well we will meet again far, far to the north.

Splendid additions Cecilia. She was rather rusty when arriving, I wonder if they are putting on some fresh paint at Fiskerstrand?
My absolute favorite is #1201, that really stands out.

I really like the pictures you've posted here lately, C!!

In the image of post #1202 it seems they are flying the red B signal flag, meaning 'I load or unload or carry dangerous goods'.

                      Why is that..., anyone...?

Looks like they actually forgot to keep the "B" flag out of the "dressing string". Only the bunkering tanker is flying it.

PS> The Navigation lights for a vessel under way is still on, although they are moored. (Not on the tanker)

What an image for detail geeks you posted, C

Now I see that it is actually the main mast of the tanker I spot there.
(Thinking about it...., I couldn't figure out the arrangement aboard the Star

Nordstjernen on one of her final trips out of Trondheim:

Can you see how old she is?
