Thanks for keeping us updated, talfh.
I think many, possibly most, tourists book the Svalbard trips for the destination rather than the ship, and wouldn’t mind the change of ship. But now I see there is a big problem not having enough places free on Expedition for them.

The special Norway to Svalbard trip on NX is however one that people seem to choose because of the ship.

Talfh, I love your photo of NX behind the rocks.
You know, all this is making me wonder if I could fit in an extra Norway trip this summer, which I hadn’t been considering previously . . .

Heyyy, THAT sure made me wake up instantly and uncurl from the fetal position!!!

Meaning that I'll be able to enjoy NORDSTJERNEN in summers also. (Before, she's been my spring/autumn ship.) Moving to Andøya early June and thus living near a HR-port will save me planning and airfare, and then I'll be able to go whenever oldship & good weather coincide (preferring midnight sun and winter storms). Life is definitely improving on my part, finally.

Feel really sorry for those who had booked and looked forward to the cruise Bergen-Svalbard, must be a terrible disappointment. Puts an end to my daydream of polarbear-spotting from NORDSTJERNEN sometime, but chances that I would ever afford such a cruise were veeery slim anyways...

Hey, 'Seagull', if you ever take a NORDSTJERNEN-trip I'd be happy to join you if possible, or you can get off NX southbound and visit for three days (whalesafari etc) then catch LOFOTEN onwards!

'Jan-Olav' and 'talf' and 'asimut' - thanks for those wonderful pictures!!!

Sometimes you must be very lucky to get exatly the ship for your trip you want to travel on...
But sometimes the changes make some people veeeery happy. Congratulations, Harald Jarl!
And thank you, Bengt for the pictures. I am hungry for each picture of an old ship.

Well, yesterday everything kind of came together, and my summer is now sorted! The thought of two traditional ships being around in the summer had reached irresistible proportions, and I was playing around with “which ship which port” the way one does. It was still showing a gap in Nordnorge’s slot, but then suddenly NX appeared on the schedule and on the online booking system . . .

So folks, I have booked! I will be aboard NX out of Bergen 3rd July as far as Bodø on the 6th. (There I can just imagine the delight of being at the end of the mole watching Skogøy zapping past!!). Then I am on Lofoten 9th and 10th as far as Tromsø.

So H-J, talf, pakarang and all - look out for me if you are around; I’m easily recognised - the one always out on deck or at some viewpoint taking photos, and probably wearing a bright blue jacket like you’ve seen on the Fram and Antarctica threads. (It identified me today when CV’s Scottish Branch met up for the first time in Leith!).
But asimut and the rest of you in Tromsø, I must apologise for not being around as I will be heading almost directly to the airport – I promised ehp that I would be in Copenhagen on the 11th to wave off Crystal Symphony, and have managed to shift all my commitments down south to after that.

Oh and Asimut, you have excelled yourself - that panorama with NX and the wreck is absolutely beautiful.

                      Wonderful news... welcome to Bodo!

As my schedule looks right now, I won't even be on duty those days!
With best regards from Jan-Olav Storli

Ahh... so you are working on Skogøy now. One of my teachers should be chief a month this summer on Skogøy. Why not the coastal voyage, it`s the perfect place to work

Heyyy – two souls with the same idea!!!
The last few days I’ve been keenly studying the oldship-schedules to find out how I can do return trips on both after moving to Andøya (stubbornly refuse to ever set my foot aboard a newship).
Hope to join you on the last part of your trip: Will choose the embarkation port after I get settled up north (dunno yet if there’ll be a night bus to Risøyhamn, but can fly to Bodø).
“Shared experiences are twice as good”, or some saying like that.
                          You have PM.

So, hopefully, Seagull will see all of YOU and then pop down to Copenhagen to spend the day with ME and have lunch on Symphony before we sail!!!
(Pakarang, just sneak in her tote bag and she can bring you down, and we'll sneak you aboard CS and you can stowaway in in the kids' stateroom!!!)

What a summer this is shaping up to be for ALL of us!!

Hmmmm, a lot of lucky people in Norway this July! But my schedule is full this summer and especially with children i can not act so flexible. But i hope you will understand and put a lot of pictures and stories into the CV forum! Hope for a common CV - trip, maybe next year!
