There was a sense of history in that call at Stokmarknes, the cheerfulness of celebration merging with the sadness of last times and uncertainty. Thoughts turn to what the future might be for Nordstjernen, perhaps here more than anywhere, as I look back towards the old Finnmarken.

      Next… Stokmarknes to Svolvær

I can confirm that it's still raining non-stop here in Trondheim... ever since that day.... no stop at all, and nothing in sight!

So many great images from Lady C... you should really have brought a CVF flag on your cruise or future cruises....

I must admit at having a big laugh when seeing the restroom with an emergency exit... I guess, in case the "business" there gets too overwhelming.... but, on the other hand, where was this one located?

PS: A couple of links probably mentioned before:

        Slow morning on Hurtigruten: http://kortreist.adressa.no/turer/tr...ticle12187.ece

Riksantikvaren (the English title AGAIN slipping my mind, and google coming up with crazy translations...)... wants to consider Nordstjernen as .... ehhhh..... (something): http://www.nationen.no/2012/02/06/la...delag/7232934/

Those stairs on the seaside, I have never seen before... I guess, to comply with fire escape regulations.

Those stairs are new since my visit in November.

As for the location of that toilet on NX, I thought it was on Deck A, but I’ve just been looking at the deck plan and there isn’t WC marked where I thought it was. I think I’d better have a discussion with Harald Jarl and see if we agree before marking it on the plan!!!!

Yes, this toilet is located on deck A. (http://www.hurtigruten.no/Norge/Skip...nen/?tab=decks here between the cabins 107 and 114)
The emergency exit leading into the provisions-storage, and up to the galley

                This thread is just great-great-great!
Thank you all who are contributing. There doesn't seem to be so much that I can add here, so at least I can let you all know I'm enjoying what I see and read!

(oh, I see now, this is actually my post #1000 on CVF!)

                  "Heritage"?

But that's from Google Translate, so maybe you already dismissed it J-O.

                  I'm sure PoloUK will know.

Well I believe that is officially 'The Chief Inspector of the Inspectorate of Ancient Monuments and Historic Buildings' - although the website goes for 'Directorate for Cultural Heritage'.

Not entirely surprised that J-O couldn't remember!!

Thanks so much Carina...it's exactly where I thought, but then instead of looking at the website I had confused myself by looking on the deck plan in the brochure of NX's Svalbard cruises on which they have only marked cabins 116, 110 and 106, 108 on Deck A.

Isn't this fun! And Tommi, congratulations on your 1000th post...it couldn't have happened in a nicer thread!!!!!

I wonder if that exit leads to the machine room or similar? Or perhaps to some of the crew quarters? Do you know Carina?

Thank you Cecilia, and I note that you're getting closer to 10000!!!

Yes, I acctually edited my post and added where it leads right after you posted yours over mine, so I guess you didnt notice it :P
It leads to the provision-storage, which again leads up to the galley.

We have a saying in Norway that directly translated goes like this: No one mentioned, no one forgotten.
But I have to mention Cecilias latest pictures here, with a special mention of the close-up/detail images. Suits me perfect!!!
Thank you Cecilia for sharing, and thanks to all who has made this thread into something special.

I am so happy about the special relationship that has developed between the German forum and CVF….were it not for those dear members we now have in common, I (with my lack of languages), would never have had the happy friendships on board NX those couple of days I was onboard.

Keelson…you came in this thread just now with perfect timing! I am about to start my next posts, which I hope will illustrate for everyone just what a prominent part hurtigforum.de played in this most special of voyages….
