      Re: ::: Nordstjernen :::

Over 30 minutes late, "Nordstjernen" and Cecilia arrived Kristiansund a few minutes past 5:00 PM this afternoon.
This ment that the time I and Cecilia had together was very limited, and very stressful.
Anyway, It was great to meet up with our friend again, and for the first and last time (at least while in operation as a hurtigrute) I got to visit on board "Nordstjernen".
I don't mean to steal this thred, but I have a few pictures and here they are, starting with "Nordstjernen" passing Stavnes light inbound

The view, with a person I recognize on the starboard bridge wing

Windy from SW today, so strong headwind was the main reason to the late arrival, I would guess

Yepp..., it was our 'Seagull' there on that wing

Inbound under the Sørsundet bridge for the last time.
Old passenger transportation meet modern industrial shipping

        A beauty...

...which is 'forever young' despite her retirement

And as we all know, Cecilia signed the banner in th O in Froever.
I edited and wanted to cut the image, when I suddenly saw a familiar name in the upper left corner.

On the dock there were music performed by music band Tempo

Kristiansund with Markussundet outlet over the stern. We see Nordlandet to the left and Innlandet to the right. Freikollen mountain at 629 meters in the far back

A familiar view to those of you who has been travelling on board "Nordstjernen" before, new to me. At least live...

          Lifeboat nr. 3, 54 passengers

I don't know for how long I was on board, can't be more than 5 minutes, maybe 6. It was time to go on shore again, and this is how she looked the last time moored in Kristiansund

          Our "Seagull" saying goodbye

(I don't blur other faces, because I'm not naming names. Hope it's ok)

Then it was time to depart. That was in such a hurry that they forgot a passenger on land.
She had to take a bus to Molde, and from what I hear now, she's again on board the hurtigrute

I thought the old star would turn the other way around...., but anyway, why do it the easy way?

A sight never to be seen again. "Nordstjernen" with Nordsundet outlet behind to the left, Nordlandet in the background together with Kvernberget behind that again. Markussundet outlet to the right.

Innlandet, Dødeladen restaurant and the Tahiti music festival area behind
"Nordstjernen" is heading for the Sørsundet outlet

I don't know if I will see this ship again, because I hope she will never be sold abroad, but as for now..., this is my very last picture of "Nordstjernen".
Great then that my friend Cecilia is in it (just to the left of that round lifebelt there)

A great reportage Sterkoder. I especially appreciate that you move around in the harbour to find the best photo angles.
#948:3 and #951:5 are my favourites.
Funny how Cecilia stands out in #948:2! Pity that you didn't get more time to meet. Seems like the only way to meet people in Kristiansund is to stay in Kristiansund.

Dear Svein...I just got the time to have a look in here and was absolutely thrilled to find your photos already, and you know you should be incredibly proud of yourself. So many aspects of the ship and her last visit to your city captured so brilliantly. Looking at them it is hard to believe the time was as short as it was!

I'm so proud of you and your photography that I've just been showing them to a number of people here on board ...and what an enthusiastic reception! Two ladies actually thought you must be a professional photographer! They were so interested that I looked up Carina's photos for them to see too.

And Carina...this was the first time I saw the detail of the banner again, and I am so thrilled that you added your name near mine!

                        Please, be my guest!
If I take pictures I'm pleased with myself, I have no problem with others showing them around.
Maybe we can get others interested in CVF, Kristiansund and what not from that.
So a big thank you and hug from me, Cecilia!!!

(I like those two ladies comment though. Grew a bit on that one.. )

                          Re: ::: Nordstjernen :::

EVERYTHING in this thread are so EMOTIONAL these days. .........

The feeling of beeing excited, thrilled, sad and PROUD at the same time, is a bit confusing.

The first thing I read tonight, was Carinas wonderful posts with her VEEERY emotional picture.

Then Seagulls report from the Sterkoders short visit.

Then sitting up waiting and hoping to see some words and photos from Sterkoder.........

SAD, . Because I so desperately wanted to be a part of Nordstjernens last voyage. I had plans to get a night-trip Bodø-Ørnes. But when I was on my way to the harbour, I saw her inbound to Bodø. And THAT was TOO MUCH. I just stopped my car. Watched her beautiful manouver. My last look at her as a Hurtigrute, and turned my car back home again. My last trip with her was so successfull. And I have had 16 wonderful trips with her. And I wanted to end my Nordstjernen-story that way. ..........

PROUD to have travelled with her 16 times........ And proud to be a true HURTIGRUTE-enthusiast. PROUD to be a part of this wonderful CVF-family. And to see very familiar names written on her FOREVER YOUNG - banner.

In my mind, I was there with you, Carina and Cecilia.

THANK YOU, Svein, for that wonderful report and wonderful pictures. Your picture of that banner with Carina, Cecilia, CaptainsVoyageForum in that O, and one other familiar name, will FOREVER live in my mind........

I can understand that really well. It's the exact same way I think when it comes to stuff like this, and I'm sort of glad to see someone else thinking the same way
In many situations I have thought like this, but many people seem to not understand why.. You don't wanna risk ruining something.
