    Re: ::: Nordstjernen :::

All these Nordstjernen updates are great, thanks everyone!! A couple more questions... Is the coffee offer available onboard and is it worth it? I have 24hrs+ in Bergen at the end of my trip, any insider suggestions on what to do? Thanks again

The coffee offer is available; whether it's worth it depends on how much coffee you intend to drink, I think - but anyway you get a quite nice red metal cup as a keepsake. A "must" thing to do in Bergen is, in my opinion, to take the funicular Fløibanen up to Fløyen, which starts very conveniently in the city and leads to a small mountain with a really good view of Bergen and surroundings. You can also walk up or down; however, in winter there's often a lot of ice and it may be difficult. If it's too icy on top of Fløyen, another possibility is to leave the funicular on the way down at an intermediate station and walking from there (by the way, the current carriages of Fløibanen are made in Switzerland ). Anyway, Bergen is a nice city for walking around - especially charming I found the white wooden houses in the area of Nøstet, not far from the Hurtigruten terminal. Of course, Bergenhus Fortress with Håkonshallen is also worth visiting...

Highly recommended link... thank you so much for sharing.

A lot of nice ideas to get unusual pictures of things we have seen so many times before. Very innovative photos!

Well, I made another Nordstjernen video - I know, the quality is low, the video parts all taken with a simple mobile phone camera (Nokia N97), and a few additional pictures taken with a rather good digicam but by a poor photographer, which is me, but anyway - maybe it does convey something of the mood on the ship. It's here:

That handheld mobile phone film gives me a great feeling of a vintage Super-8 (or similar) film.

Despite the lack of super-HD quality, this is an awesome piece of film, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to watch it.

Thank you very much for recording it, and placing it so that we have been able to see it. Thank you for the great moment!

There's a rumor that NRK's minute-for-minute Facebook-page says that there's going to be a documentary about the last regular round trip with NX. Could some one of our facebookers confirm that?

That is correct. They are planning to make a documentary about Nordstjernen. I don't know the size of the project, but my guess is that it will be a 30 or 45 minute program.

NRK also wants some old pictures and videos of Nordstjernens long life, to this documentary. So if anyone of you have something to share, contakt Mr Helge Lyngmoe in NRK. helge.lyngmoe@nrk.no

Just heard that there are only five cabins free for the very last roundtrip with "Nordstjernen".
So, the one who wants to take part in this last sailing should hurry....

(Would be great if time permitted to go to Trondheim and then sail southbound with her back home to Kristiansund. Have never sailed "Nordstjernen" nor "Lofoten" for that matter).

Anyone know the date she leave Trondheim for the last time...?

Just found out the last visit to both Trondheim and Kristiansund will be during mid-week, so that blows my chanse.
The HSC Kystekspressen departs Kristiansund at 0800 and arrives Trondheim 1135, which means I should go there one day in advance, which again mean one night in a hotel....., and all this during a work week. Nope.
But she will be heavily photographed in this city 21. March then....

                                Spot on Svein:
