A big "wouah" as we say in French. I am amazed at the quality of photos we find here. And the details of the ship are amazing...
I agree as several on this thread the following picture from Lady C is a wonderful tribute to what Hurtigruten represents: #1682!

Oof, now we're talking great captures of a beautiful ship. I get a feeling of that there cannot be too many pictures in this thread.

Just as long as it isn’t spilt coffee you’re soaking in, Jan-Olav!
It took me longer than anticipated too, but that was the writing. I was trying to make it something like that Finnmarken piece I did in the earlier days of CVF I suppose.

I’m SO glad you decided to put your own goodbye to Nordstjernen here in this thread…and I want to see every single image.

Thank you all for wonderful comments and for enjoying the images with me.

I'm really happy that I did that round-trip to Rørvik back in February - it was my absolutely last chance to experience the old lady in HRG-service.

The continuation: from above and behind the bridge deck:

I like very much these detail shots. Because of uncountable coats of painture the body lost its original shape and everything becomes so individual - so living!

I am so glad you are sharing those images with us Parakang and they fit so well in this discussion. I'm looking forward to what is coming next.
I never had the chance to travel aboard Nordstjernen and your pictures help me know her, almost intimately. Thank you so much for that.

It makes me cry imagining even for a moment that you might not have grasped that opportunity. Not only for you, that you might not have been a part of her last weeks in service, but for all our loss had these photographs never been taken. I remember we have a colleague stepping into your shift to be grateful to.

Photographically I felt from the start that there would be a unity, a consistent photographic essay or portfolio feel to what you had taken. To me, that collective unity is coming from what I’ve sometimes called your “white light” style – but not in an artistically extreme way that might have shifted the emphasis away from the ship herself. It’s as if all your earlier creative experimentation has been absorbed and was ready to contribute in a totally natural way for this appropriate subject and circumstances, weather and light. So even in a motif that is largely colourful or even includes some dark elements, that “white light” luminosity shines through.

The rope images in #1707 are not merely a good example of what I’m struggling to say, but have a special place among my personal favourite images, both of this ship and within your photographic work as a whole.

Yes, that is very right... it is all thanks to a good colleague on another shift that I was able to do this trip. Without his assistance, I would have been on K instead.

Some additional images: here is an image where "Ralf" will easily see the layers of paint:
