So I did... but was only told that this is an old ship so there is nothing they can do about it, apart from keeping open all doors to the open decks. In winter however, the problem would be reversed, the officer said.

Thank you for sharing those links with us, Svein!!!!!

Thank whoever for YouTube and all the best in the world to whomever uploaded these golden films!

And I really liked the music, it made me feel like I was on a classic voyage on board the ship back in the 60's.
(For obvious reasons I don't know that feeling by first hand experience, but I've seen old movies).

She looks a bit heavy on the stern today?

Beautiful images of her as usual.

As she is to turn around in Honningsvåg I suspect there may not be many round-trip passengers.
Those booked on the half-trip boarding in Kirkenes may have rearranged their routing.

Wonder where she is right now? (I don't have any good AIS for the northernmost areas.) Will she sail directly to Sognefjorden?

Seems there are some people able to solve such a problem and some are not (wanting to).

Is there any reason for this route alteration?

Another image of NX, same day as in previous post: under the bow of the super modern HSC "Salten"... more than 50 years of evolution between these two vessels, but still doing service along the coast:

Thank goodness, she haven't had the white paint added to her sides yet....

In the "TROLLFJORD" thread the painting seems to be an issue. Do we like new letters or not? Do we like new colours and logos or not?

Is it right to talk about BEAUTY when it comes to ships?

Does the HR-consulents only think about advertising? Or do they have som colour-consulents and consulents who think about that kind of stuff compared to each ships age and design.

"Seagull" call it VANDALISM if they paint white letters on NX.

Maybe it is ONLY me who have strange "eyes". But please take a closer look to these two pictures. Yes I know it is two different ships. Nordstjernen and old-Polarlys. But the design is very similar.
The first image is Nordstjernen anno 2009, shot by pakarang. The second is Polarlys anno 1992, shot by me.

To differences here speaking about colours. The new logo on the funnel. And the colour of the lifeboats.

In my mind the old TFDS-funnel suits this ship-design much better than the new black funnel-logo.
And in my mind, the white colour on the lifeboats also suits this ship-design much better then the (horrible) orange on Nordstjernen. TF and MS has white (and yellow) lifeboats. So why can`t a beautiful old lady as Nordstjernen have the original colour on her lifeboat????????

I think the orange/red colour on the lifeboats is close to "seagll"s word vandalism.

Is it only me who think the old Polarlys looks better????? Please let me know.

You are not the only one HurtigruteMartin, as comparing those pictures I do find the old Polarlys more beautiful.
BUT (typical Seagull - always seems to have a but!!!!):
I find the new funnel livery OK generally speaking, but if you have it on these traditional ships AND retained the white lifeboats, I think the blackness of the funnel would look top heavy and unbalanced. Whereas the coloured lifeboats sort of break up the expanse of white, balancing the light and dark areas.

In the TFDS colours the white funnel band does the balancing so to speak, but if those lifeboats were coloured it would again look wrong.

I actually find black funnel on the oldships more becoming than the older paint.

Especially on NORDSTJERNEN because her funnel is sooo BIG and hefty. Gawd I love that funnel and those masts!

Hope they will not paint the white lettering on LO/NX, or at least not until the new ones are done...

Orange colored emergency/rescue gear is proved to be more visible, so that overrides any estethics in my book.
