          Shipshapeships!

There are some wonderful pictures that you get by using drone.
A completely different way of observing the ships when using a camera on a drone.
        Perfect

I know I'm not the only one to have a soft spot for this big old girl - especially in scenery like this! 2043 on 20 June this year - gosh but that ship is loud when it's hooting and pointing at you at the same time.

At this point I couldn't believe my luck - on one beautiful boat, passing another beautiful boat - in stunning scenery, in Norway - and with the sun shining!!! Made me forget that I couldn't feel my toes.

First one actually a Mrs PoloUK photo.

          Another Mrs PoloUK shot.

          Cheers,

          Mark.

Thanks Cecilia. It was a definite 'count ones blessings' moment.

Great pictures of "Finnmarken" with stunning backgrounds of the mountains,
just south of Svolvær it looks like.

Precisely Bengt - we passed the fishy lady with the permanent seagull on her head about 10 minutes later.

Excellent images of the big LADY in the most perfect of surroundings!

As you now might know, I stay at Thon Hotels Lofoten in Svolvær for a few days. Perfect when taking pictures of a hurtigrute. Last night it was Nordkapp, tonights southbound is FINNMARKEN.

I didn't notice when I took the picture, but this one is dedicated to Cecilia. (Take a look in the mast up there)

Had to walk down on the floating quay, pontoon tonight too. But as Finnmarken is slightly larger than Nordkapp, she came closer...., and made a more impressive picture

Very good pictures of "Finnmarken" in a rainy Svolvær,Svein

You're a bit unfortunate, as it came in a heavy low pressure sweeping north along the coast
But as we say, there's no bad weather, just bad clothes even if it's summer now

Seeing that "Finnmark" is on the way out of Svolvær now at the time of writing, and "Trollfjord" is on its way to Svolvær.

It's nice to stay so close to the dock when you want to tak pictures of the coastal steamer.
              Enjoy your stay,despite the weather

Pretty boat. Not very pretty weather! Lucky you being there though, lovely place, even in the rain. I almost (not quite though) feel guilty that we had such beautiful weather in June when we passed FM as she was on her way into Svolvær (post 953 a few back).
                Cheers,

Awesome image of the Finnmarken, Sir Sterkoder - was it raining or is it just the effect?

                  Hope you kept dry!

As usual now, I'm a bit (or very) late with my answer. No, my friend, this was no effect, it was pure real life. "Downpouren mit katzen und hunden", as I once saw it described in a cartoon by Bob Stevens.

Striking image - truly "Hurtigruten" as I remember it so well. Love the large windows of this ship - and in this image, you can clearly see the "insides" of the ship because of these panoramic windows.
