        What a fantastic view!!

I hope to be down there on the fjord on either VEØY or BOLSØY this summer, from Hellesylt to Geiranger...., but we'll see.
One thing that is for sure, is that I will board FINNMARKEN 4. October for a trip to Bergen together with colleagues.

After either being home, going on daytrips in my holidays..., or going abroad to a country in the Mediterranian, I now getting my eyes more and more open for Norway as a country to explore during the summer.

After a road trip around in the southern part in 2010 and in the northern part with Lofoten in 2012, I just want to see even more of my own country.

        Thanks for posting from Skageflaa!

So nice pictures of the FM in Geirangerfjord. That is possibly the most beautiful angle to see that ship from - very harmonic lines.

"Finnmarken" north Tromsø strait yesterday evening in fog with her signal flags up to celebrate the 120 year anniversary.
I manage to take a photo wich came out very well I think, despite the fog.

That's absolutely magnificent Bengt. I'm delighted that you had one day of bad weather so that you could take that photo!
                Cheers,

This is fantastic. I bet it will be a great feeling to be on travel and spend a night on board. How long has it been since you travelled the last time on a Hurtigrute?

It's a bit sad that the major part of the trip will be in pitch darkness, but then again..., I heard the beer on board FINNMARKEN is rether good ;-)

I've only travelled on a hurtigrute between Kristiansund and Trondheim before, but the last time must have been in 2007-2008, when I boarded LOFOTEN from Molde to Kristiansund.
My travel company was in the bar, while I was just in there buying a beer from time to time to keep me company when I stood in the top deck door and ladder looking down on the engine and listening to the sound.
I think there should be pictures from that trip somewhere in here.
I also get to try the captains seat on the bridge, so for me..., it was a great experience :-)

Oh, yes i remember this picture. I think it was the old forum!
Take care to get up early to meet the northbound Richard With at 06.15!
You're already in winter schedule. Afterwards you can have a shower and be the first at breakfast. Then you will have plenty of daylight until you reach Bergen!

Thank you Ralf, for that very good advice!!
(Better hold back on the beer then...)

Seriously, that sound like a good thing to do, but travelling with colleagues..., everything can happen

                          Re: ::: Finnmarken :::

I have to correct myself, in October the ships travel now to Hjoerundfjorden, so the meet up with RW will be at 04.15. This is a time, where i am sleeping 100% and won't get up (sorry i looked in an older schedule). So you will see only Nordlys about 21.30 in Molde. But anyway i recommend to use the first daylight to get up. The route is beautiful. My plan would be to stay awake until departing Alesund and then go to bed around 01.00. Maloy is 5.45, that is maybe too early, but i would to have breakfast finished until the Floroe stop at 08.15. So sleep until 07.00, have a shower and the first coffee in the restaurant at 07.30.
That will enable both, beer in the evening and daylight the next morning.
And generally....there will be a lot of nights with plenty of time for sleeping. The night aboard certainly is not such one.

I agree, personally this is my very first distance trip with a hurtigrute, so I'd better not sleep too much.
Other than that, we will also have one night at a hotel in Bergen, so as you say..., one can always sleep another night.

At 1100 hours, FM is passing through Ytre Steinsundet in Solund, the narrowest spot on the whole passage! You should be prepared at least one hour in advance (from Alden on), phantastic landscape.....

Many good traveling tips and info here, thanks!
As a guy never able to decide wether starboard or port side is best at places like Sigve describe, I think I'd better find my place at the 'bakken' (bow deck)
