Oh yes! At second 3 in that video you can see how I was shaking the camera while turning it.

I was glad to make a short trip from Bodø til Tromsø with Finnmarken.
Here is a longer video of that trip:

That's a great video - particularly enjoyed the Aurora stills at around 07:30 minutes. Thanks for sharing that with us!

            Re: ::: Finnmarken :::

For any Aussies (or Dutch) who happen to look in here, who used to call this ship "home-away-from-home" for a period while she was at Barrow, here you can see what this ship is all about.

She is not a Ferry and she is not a Cruise Ship, she is a "Hurtigrute", a very special type of ship, designed to carrying passengers, freight and some car up and down the Norwegian coast in all weather, calling at small ports day and night.

Passengers comes and goes all along the coast, while some stay for the entire round trip of 11 days. Those are mostly foreign tourists who come to experience the Norwegian coast in all seasons. At this time of the year, also hoping to see the Aurora Borealis, in the summer to see the Midnight Sun.

Maybe there will be an influx of Aussies on the Finnmarken this summer?

By the way, does anybody know if she changed register to Norwegian International Shipregistry (NIS) during her stay in Oz??
I see she is flying the Post flag again now.

A surprise at the very beginning of this video was that they used the anchor to berth in Bodo.
I would have thought that, with twin screws and all the thruster power available, she would be able to get on and off that wharf in anything but the worst weather from abeam.

Many great images here, and Carinas pictures might be worth a special mention.
Now, is it only me or does she look really worn and torn so shortly after repaint?
When looking at her appearance in Speedbirds images in post #666 there are brownish spots in the white all around, rusty marks running down from railings, black/sooty markings around windows and on the walls of the "over pool structure" and so on...
Anyway, Sunday 26th I might have a look at this beauty myself as she's southbound in Kristiansund

Errr - you don't seem to understand Ombugge! We ask the questions - you provide the answers!!

Doesn't FM have azimuthing thrusters at the stern anyway which would make this even more surprising?

Just at the moment of berthing there have been very strong gusts heading exactly to the quay.
During my christmas tour with "Nordnorge" the anchor was user 2 times in simular situations. ( 1:44 in this video)

Four years ago I used the Finnmarken to relocate from Germany to Norway, I put all my stuff in a van and sailed with her from Bergen to Tromsø. I really love this ship!

Wonderful video and a perfect presentation of this unique ship. She is a very good evolution of all the Kong Harald to Nordnorge ships with a lot of good ideas. It is abolutely a wish of mine to sail on her one day. For me it is difficult to understand why they continiued with TF and MS in a different way. And you don't just need to compare the stern...

Finnmarken have been sitting dead in the water for the past 2 years, according to this Norwegian article:

I think they have plenty of power at the stern, but Finnmarken and the rest of the 90' ships only have 2 bow thrusters and I think they are a bit underpowered? According to wikipedia Finnmarken has 2 X 1400 HP in the bow, on the other hand Midnatsol and Trollfjord have 3 x 1600 HP and these vessels are pretty much the exact same size.
