Very nice report! Love the comparison shots!

Here she is in Bodø to day, in and between the snow showers:

Great to have her back in normal service again. That ship has a lot of must-travel-appereal...
Not only fun to watch the differences (or the lack of them) but also great to see that pakarangs photography skills actually have improved to a even higher level during the years!
And great images also from Bodø Speedbird! Now we're just waiting for the Stamsund report...
i found it a bit strange that anybody haven't commented the lack of the "HURTIGRUTEN" text on the hull yet. She's actually the only ship in the current fleet that have not been painted with the logotype-text.

Long may it stay that way!!

I too am hoping that Carina has been able to visit the quayside in Stamsund today.
        Cheers,

What a fun thread this became now. And so many wonderful photos!! A delight to scroll through.

And of course I was there tonight. The whole population of Stamsund was maybe there. It's been a while since I saw so many cars there.
Halfway out to the dock my stupid back-wheel on my bicycle locked after I used the break, (it was frozen) so I had to walk the locked bike the rest, which made me believe that I would miss her arrival, but luckfully she was late

          A few photos from tonight:

I liked this one only because the lights around her looks kinda cool..

It was fun when she arrived and blew her horn, cause it started a whole orcestra of car-horns from the pier. Wish I had recorded that. It was a fun welcome.

And finally Tommi noticed the missing "Hurtigruten" on her hull. This struck me when I saw her tonight. Had not noticed that on the photos posted here earlier.

Glad you got there Carina - great story - and, as ever, fantastic photos.

The top photo looks like something out of ET, a spaceship coming out of the mist.
            Cheers,

#661/1, yes that looks pretty space'y with those lights shining out from the sides of the hull.
#662/4, I wonder if those dining room windows ain't the biggest on the Norwegian sea?

Could that have something to do with her spending several weeks in Singapore while on the way home??
Re-painting the hull, above and below water, doesn't take that amount of time.

I agree with PoloUK for the hull without logo

Absolutely stunning pictures from you pakarang, Speedbird and carinahansen.

"Finnmarken" is back along the Norwegian coast where she belongs, to serve passengers and cargo along our beautiful coastline.

I agree with you PoloUK, a stunning photo from Honningsvåg.

Oh yes! At second 3 in that video you can see how I was shaking the camera while turning it.

I was glad to make a short trip from Bodø til Tromsø with Finnmarken.
Here is a longer video of that trip:

                                Re: ::: Finnmarken :::

For any Aussies (or Dutch) who happen to look in here, who used to call this ship "home-away-from-home" for a period while she was at Barrow, here you can see what this ship is all about.

She is not a Ferry and she is not a Cruise Ship, she is a "Hurtigrute", a very special type of ship, designed to carrying passengers, freight and some car up and down the Norwegian coast in all weather, calling at small ports day and night.

Passengers comes and goes all along the coast, while some stay for the entire round trip of 11 days. Those are mostly foreign tourists who come to experience the Norwegian coast in all seasons. At this time of the year, also hoping to see the Aurora Borealis, in the summer to see the Midnight Sun.

Maybe there will be an influx of Aussies on the Finnmarken this summer?

By the way, does anybody know if she changed register to Norwegian International Shipregistry (NIS) during her stay in Oz??
I see she is flying the Post flag again now.

A surprise at the very beginning of this video was that they used the anchor to berth in Bodo.
I would have thought that, with twin screws and all the thruster power available, she would be able to get on and off that wharf in anything but the worst weather from abeam.
