Thank you so much for the update. Hope the weather at your end is not too hot, though I remember from my own visit to a place called Broome, that the area is generally sizzling hot....

I bet that sounds familiar to Steve B.

Exmouth is about 22ºS so you are in the tropics already. Just another 1º north and about the same east to Barrow Island.

Looking across the rest of the page in my Atlas, I'm amazed at how much of Australia is even further north. Cape York (at the tip of that pointy bit that sticks up towards New Guinea) is about 11ºS!!

That amazed me too, during some voyages around Australia (by sea naturally).

That is huge continent! Australia is a very large landmass... and some parts are almost "un-inhabited". I really would like to add a self drive across Australia to my already too long list of vacations I want to do.

Finnmarken is showing on AIS again this evening. She's moved to somewhere named Onslow (-20.41026˚ / 115.2841˚), which appears to be on the Australian mainland almost due south of Barrow Island.

She seems to be inching her way into position.

That is good news. It took a long time from being removed from regular Hurtigruten service until arriving at her new "home".

Has she been moored up in her final operating position, or just anchored off Barrow, awaiting a "berth" to moor to?

                Congratulations Pindakaas.

I hope the anchorage serves her well. She will be there a long time.

Her AIS is still being picked up.

Right now (well about 6 minutes ago):
                Lat/Long : -20.82165˚ / 115.5204˚
Nearby Places: Onslow, Dampier, Karratha (but all over 100km away)

I expect there will be be a lot of comings and goings now as the transit crew become augmented/replaced with long term members. Or did all that take place further south?

Best wishes to all on board.

Well, that position puts her at anchor approx. 4.5 n.miles more or less due East off the present Chevron camp at Barrow.
Here is a GE image of the camp:

That was informative pics and the associated article, although some of the texts and facts were, as usual, not accurate.
Some of the pictures were from her long stay in Fremantle, not from Barrow Island.
Boskalis is only involved in building the wharf facilities at Barrow, not in the development of the Gorgan Field, or the Processing facilities on Barrow.

Now we know that she is moored to in a prepared single point buoy mooring just off Barrow Island and people are being transported to/from the ship by Crew Boat (seen in a couple of the pics)

We also know that the Supply vessel used to support her is the PSV "Wise Tide II". They appeared to have put a barge with a Crawler Crane on deck "permanently" alongside to handle supplies from the Wise Tide II to the Finnmarken, (probably using the Side ramp and forklifts from there to the Cargo Deck) since there is no lifting gear on either the ship or the WT II.

I believe she will also be used to receive, store and deliver Diesel Fuel for the Boskalis fleet of vessel to be used on the project?
If so, God help them if they should spill any in the process.
