    • Great photos Eirik - particularly love the one of Bronnøysund bridge and Torghatten.

        • Wonderful interior images provided by Erik!

Nice to see that the ship upkeep is top of the end - not that I had doubted it in any way.

What strikes me when seeing these images is that it's been a really LONG time since I have been making my rounds on board these ships... I have had several chances no doubt, but I have not been putting it on top of my agenda for a long time. I think I need to change my habits and routines a little soon.

Yep, should definitely go for a nice spot of Hurtigruting, it never hurts (well, except for the bank account, that is...) Anyways, I can reccomend the Tromsø - Trondheim leg, as you get both Lofoten, Vesterålen and Helgelandskysten.

Speaking of MS Nordnorge, I have to say that I'm delighted about the refurbishment job they did to it. The bistro/a'la carte combo is a good improvement upon the old system, with the latter being very well priced, especially the main courses, I found the food to be extremely tasty and nicely presented, not the rip-off prices of the main dining room. The new rewamped panorama lounge was also very nice, no point in having multiple bars on a ship as small as the average Hurtigrute, the furniture was very comfortable as well, especially the swing chairs, they even had a tilt function for if you wanted to relax. The shop is also a good improvement over the one in the others, much more space, and a better selection. I ended up even buying a "Hunting the light" hat.

I'm also very happy that they changed the furniture of the Multe bakery for MS Nordnorge, looks much more homely at sea than the cottage kitchen-style of the furniture in MS Kong Harald, MS Polarlys, and MS Nordkapp. Over all, the make over gets a big thumbs up from me.

            • I have not been able to go ‘hurtigruting’ for a while either, although this year's frustration was perhaps me trying too hard fit in all the things I wanted to do in Norway in just one time slot …and with constantly changing issues at home too. My greatest disappointment was not getting to experience Spitsbergen in regulat coastal service earlier this year. A new interior style for a new ship is something I can get more enthusiastic about, without all my various provisos and preduices about the makeover of existing ships.

Good to hear you enjoyed the food Eirik. Actually the food offerings and arrangements had already been changed on the coastal service prior to the ship makeovers, and applied throughout the fleet. I recollect our member HurtigruteMartin being pleased about it quite a while ago. Didn't they call it “Coastal Kitchen” or something like that? Certainly in the little I could follow in a Norwegian language group on other social media, it seemed to me that a lot of the ‘pro-makeover’ views were perhaps more a vote for the food as the décor.

              • Very nice interiour shots Eirik. Good to see that the ship still has a lot of soul left. I'm however missing some of the art that used to be onboard - or perhaps still is?

Yes, I remember the food was very good on Richard With in November last year, but here it completed the makeover very nicely.

It applies to all of the food, even the burger is fancy now, it's easily on the same level as the burgers you get in Oslo at places like Døgnvill, Munchies, Illegal Burger etc. The only difference from November was that the Kraftkar cheese from Tingvollost was now an optional extra on the blue cheese burger, it was included before, but that was before that cheese was named world champion at the 29th annual cheese awards.

A Norwegian blue has been crowned the best cheese on the planet after a surprising and emotional finale to the 29th annual World Cheese Awards, held in ...
