Friends were on NN last week for a Tromsø - Kirkenes - Tromsø Northern Lights trip.

          Ready to go.

Unbelievably good weather in Honningsvåg made for some great iPhone shots.

The last one could easily make it to a postcard. Splendid light and a good angle.

Captain Arnvid Hansen, Hurtigruten ASA, is awarded The Carnegie Hero Fund's medal and diploma for his assistance in Antarctica 23 november 2007, when the coastal express M/S Nordnorge picked up 154 passengers and crew from open lifeboats in open sea. They had taken to the lifeboats after the cruise ship M/S Explorer had sunk as a result of hitting ice during the night. Arnvid Hansen captained the Nordnorge. The award was presented to the captain, the crew and the ships company by the mayor of his home community in southern Norway last week, over six years after the event, on behalf of the Norwegian branch of Carnegie Hero Fund.

Great initiative indeed to honor the captain.

The blue hour makes it difficult. Everything gets so blue!!
Its frustrating to come home with crap :P

                    Re: ::: Nordnorge :::

Yes, the blue hour is very blue.
And if it's not enough, the white balance adjustment of the camera often locks to the artificial light of the ship, which makes the blue even bluer.

The very positive thing with the blue hour is that it makes it possible to take "night photos" while you still get some extra light on the surroundings and on the sides of the ship.

I hope that you're not fed up with night pictures with too much snowflakes dancing around? Great - so here's Nordnorge in Rørvik at two different occasions.

It's about here when one wishes for a camera with better low-light performance...

                      ...or a faster lens.

This is actually a quite adveanced geometrical design.

(I'm a bit too tired - that's why get a lot of un-funny comments among the pictures...)

                            Reality check:

The M&G-table is still as we all know it.

A quick Hurtigruten walk-through seems to give more random images than when actually travelling.

And the classic dead ahead forecastle shot.

On the upper deck there's a video projector showing something nondistinguishable. I'm not a rfeat fan of barrel decorations in bars. Otherwise it's a nice corner of the ship.
