You can also contact Nordnorge directly: nordnorge@hurtigruten.com

The information an the German page is a bit more exact:

"Bis auf MS Lofoten und MS Nordstjernen sind alle Schiffe mit einem Waschraum ausgestattet. Sie können die dortigen Waschmaschinen, Trockner und Bügeleisen nutzen; die dafür erforderlichen Wertmarken erhalten Sie an der Rezeption."

"With the exception of LO and NX all ships have a washing room. You may use the washers, dryers and irons, the tokens you will receive at the reception."

I suggest you will have to bring your own soap. We have here special small soap tubes or tabs for voyages. Do you know something similar also in the U.S.?

I know our HurtigruteMartin has had experience of using the laundry facilities on this generation of ship.

We do have soap in tabs here, which I'll buy. I did see where they had some laundry facilities..but when we were on the Fram, we were told they were for staff use only. And where I live, some laundries don't allow you to bring in your own soap, but have a special low-suds variety to use in their machines. I've sent off an email to ask for sure, but in the meantime, I'll buy detergent to bring.

This is INDEED correct. I have used the laundry facilities several times.

Last time, just a few hour ago. On Nordkapp (who is almost identical sister to Nordnorge).

Due to some trouble with old water-pipes, I have been without water at home in about two weeks. So tonight I filled up 2 backsacks with dirty clothes. Slept some hours onboard Nordstjernen Bodø-Ørnes.
After a nice breakfast-buffet at Ørnes Hotel, I boarder the northbound Nordkapp. and went straight ahead to the laundry.

Nordkapp/Nordnorge has a quite big laundry with 6 washers and 6 dryers.

For a fee of 30 NOK, you buy some special coins at thr reception. And you can choose what machine you want, any time you want.

You have to do the job yourself. But thr machines are full automatic. So you just have to drop the coins in a box, choose washing-program, and press the start-button.

The machines are even more efficient than my private at home. So 2 hours later, my backsacks was filled up with clean, dry and nice smelling clothes

The laundry is perfect located on deck 3 port side, close to the handicap-cabins

So just go ahead, and wash all your clothes on board, uppitycats

            Dear UPPITYCATS

You don`t need to buy soap.

The washers have integrated soap-feeders. So you are NOT able to add your own soap.

You just press the start-button. And everything is arranged to give you a perfect vacation

Norwegian paradise!! You can use Hurtigruten as laundry shop, if your water at home is not running! I am so jealous!!

              (==

(Next time you will tell us, that the supermarket in Bodo had not your special toilet paper, so you took Polarlys over night to Harstad, jumped there quickly into Life Harstad AS, bought your toilet paper and enjoyed a sunny day cruising back on MS Lofoten.... Norwegian Paradise!!)

Thanks so much Daniel. I must admit I was pleased with it myself, and like the limited subtle range of colour. I remember it was before dinner and I was inside, when I became suddenly aware of the colour in the sky and popped out to take a photo –hurriedly trying to steady my camera on the rail while hoping that couple wouldn’t move away!

Oh Martin, you certainly lived up to your CV name with that laundry trip –what a laugh that gave me.
I don’t need much excuse to travel by hurtigrute, but I would never have come up with that one!!!!!!!!!
