Thank you so very much, Eilun..., for the CD I received today!!!
Great and fantastic are two words not big enough to describe my gratitude.
        Thank you!!!

I belive we must have seen eachother, not knowing who the other one was, because if you take a look at your picture nr. 1394 (The Lorentz A. Lossius warehouse)...., I'm off with only a couple of meters of the right pictureframe.

Here's my picture taken the other way Do you spot yourself?

The letter needed only three days, I think this is fast.
Maybe I am the person in blue - or is it a man? I am not sure.

I got a call some hours ago. My cruise to Gratangen is cancelled, because there are not enough people interested. Last year Sjøkurs was fully booked, I don't understand...

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's always sad when the passenger numbers drop and forces older ships out of service.

The good thing - Sjøkurs is a schoolship, so there is no risk she will force out of service because of one not enough booked summer cruise. It is only sad for the crew who spend a lot of free time to organize a fantastic summer cruise and for me and the other passengers who booked it. The cancellation is hard to understand for me. Last year the ship was fully booked and the years before when the ship sailed with the name Gann it was impossible to get a cabin. The ship was always fully booked nearly a year before departure.

Yesterday I got a letter from the school with a detailed explanation.
The cruise was organized because of many enthusiastic passengers from last year who asked in the winter again and again for a new cruise. They hoped for 100 passengers, but 80 would be enough for paying the costs. Only 34 passengers signed on and so they must cancel the cruise to avoid loosing money. They don't know the reason why so few people are interested.

From my experience last year I can say this cruise is much better than Hurtigruten. More time to go ashore and beautiful places to explore. The prices are very fair. (This days I have got a new catalog about Fram. I am shocked about the prices - no hope I can ever book a cruise. I am glad this ship looks like a floating box and so I will never be envious)
I think the problem is Sjøkurs needed more advertisement. This offer was difficult to find - only a link on their homepage and a member who write about it on facebook.
It is not enough to believe that all passengers from last year will book again. Also it would help to plan earlier. Some friends were interested, but when I found this cruise in April they have already booked their holidays.
Or is it a problem that all passengers should work a little bit this year?

Now the link is deleted but at the moment there is still some information in the Web.
What do you think about it? It is written in Norwegian so this is a question for the Norwegians here.
                http://sjoekurs.no/getfile.php?cid=1...6&chk=3258f84c

At the moment I think about visiting the Fjordsteam instead. The problem is that my brother and his family will travel to Croatia in August. So someone should feed his cats and keep an eye on his house and the flowers. Also my father is 83 years old and I always fear he will get problems with health again and we are all far away.
Maybe I can do a short visit in Florø at the weekend? I don't know, yesterday I booked a weekend cruise on our red lady. (lightship Elbe 1)
I hope many people do the same and it will take place.

I have added some images of the Ragnvald Jarl model at the Hurtigruten Museum in the museum-thread:

In Mai a Norway festival (the area around Oslo) will take place in connection with the harbour birthday in Hamburg. MS Sjøkurs will visit the place where she was built.
Seems like I should plan a visit in Hamburg.

Fram will be there, too. But I think she will be moored at the cruise terminal, far away and protected from the crowd.

10.-31.July 2011 SJØKURS will have a cruise to Iceland, Shetland and Orkney.

You can choose a 6 days, 10 days, 11 days or the full 21 days cruise.

The main thing is that if you book a ticket, you will also be a part of the working-teams. All passengers are ON duty on this cruise.

It is FORBUNDET KYSTEN and local "Kystlag" from the Kristiansand-area who will arrange this tour.

Next weekend MS Sjøkurs will stay next by the lightship Elbe 1 in Hamburg. Great, this means a short way for me when visiting both ships. Somebody else there?
