Thank you for posting these impressing images. Let's hope some responsible person for Hurtigruten is infected by these images and brings her home. No problem then, if they want to charter out more of the new vessels to the oil companies.

such a nice ship, maybe you have to start a fundraising (??) to buy her back, and bring her back to norway.
doesn`t want the hurtigruten company her back, maybe had somebody to bring it up at them, maybe you can make them warm to sponsering.
        best regards Thijs

Many people, including myself, would love to see this fine vessel saved from the predicament that she currently is in. But, I'm getting more and more afraid that the time has passed where a successful 'salvage' can be made.

She is in neglect, she is in need of maintenance and most importantly, she is in need of a lot more funds than any company may want to put into a ship like this.

She was forgotten too long - the time is maybe over for her. My dream would be to see her restored in a yacht like appearance, with a very shiny yacht-like hull and gleaming white superstructure. If her propulsion can not be restored, I would love to see her as an integrated part of Solsiden shopping center in Trondheim, resting on land in one of the former drydocks of TMV there.

I would also love to see her moored in Stavanger as Hotel Kong Olav featuring a fine French restaurant and beautiful state of the art - and classical art deco cabins.

But it is all dreams, nothing else but dreams.

Anyone in our dear family here who are ready for another look at the King, our dear Kong Olav? (Totally rhetorical question, as I know what Sterkoder wants... ). These are all for you!

Once again, I kindly ask readers to not copy any of the images onto other places on the net, but welcome instead readers to spread the word of this thread instead (share the link). The more people get to know about the ship, the better for her future it might be.

I'm now just about ready to take you all on a walk through the entire A deck of the ship. This was the deck at which I boarded, starboard side.

This should really have been the first image, as it was the first one taken on board, just after boarding. Looking aft on starboard side:

The ticket office area: anybody remember this area from their trips with the ship along the Norwegian coast in coastal service?

I experienced a short in my external flash right after boarding, so this is the ONLY image from inside the ticket office itself. The ship was without power and the only light coming in, was through the porthole.

You can see the mail-slots just inside the window.

Signs of her previous life was very much still there: one day away from her 10 year anniversary of her departure from Norway:

Now, we moved forward to the crew cabins in the bow, in front of the forward staircase: maybe someone can enlighten me where this sign was placed and the story behind it?

The galley on the A deck was very dusty, dark and looked awfully abandoned:
