That orange sky is totally surreal and rather spooky, and my other favourite is #58/3 - an iceberg equivalent of the golden light dripping from the whale's tail you showed us earlier.

I'm thinking that as well as the age of the penguin chicks, the date you chose is rather good for the time of sunset.

Thanks Seagull. Yes it did prove to be a very special time to be in Antarctica but the timing was really because we didn't want to be away over Christmas and New Year and this was one of the very few voyages on MS Midnatsol that also called at the Falkland Islands!

The next morning we were heading north again for a landing at Damoy Point.

But before we went ashore, lunch was served on deck...

Lifejacket skiing, that's not so common over here... :-)

As the sun began to set guests gathered on the stern deck for one last glimpse of Antarctica, the next day we were heading back across the Drake's Passage to the Falkland Islands.

Remarkably calm Drake's Passage. Lucky you!

WAOW.... what an amazing trip and some pretty beautiful images!

I really want to return to Antarctica one more time in my life... no place will ever match it's spectacular beauty!

So cool that the MIDNATSOL even ran into her former name-sake, currently the NG Explorer. Spectacular meeting!
With best regards from Jan-Olav Storli

Thanks for your kind comments. Yes, it was great to see NG Explorer but sadly it was an opportunity missed. There was no announcement and I don't think too many people on board would have been aware of the significance.
