Perhaps seen as details, but one of the most beautiful things about this ship is that she hasn't been fitted with those thin, metallic ceiling plates impossible to remove successfully for service and inspections.

            Looking for a lifeboat?

There are two massive lifeboats from the ATLANTIDA left at Rissa Yards. Legally, they are still owned by Hurtigruten Group, but give them an offer, and they might be interested in selling them?

These two boats are absolutely massive in size and could easily house someone as in a house-boat. Engines are missing though.

I have not yet been on board the ship myself, but now I have your pictures that I can study.
It looks very good I think.

                Thank you very much, Azimut!

The ship does indeed appeal but she is so different to her other sisters at Hurtigruten - almost like a much more exotic version of the traditional.

Excellent job as usual. That image has great dynamics - love the look of the water rushing around her hull and from the stern. It elevates the quality of the image!

Dear Azimut – I love your photo of the ship, and I really appreciated those good wishes which I HAD seen before I boarded in Bergen .but somehow hadn’t commented on. That was probably due to the busy pre-Norway bit of my trip in London! It would have been great to have had time to go all the way to Tromsø, but at least I got to sail a couple of days of her last round trip in regular service before she goes off on Explorer Cruises.

Strange how we get used to these "odd ships" after a while.... I thought I would never warm up to actually "like" this ship, but right now, she is one of the others.

I have a personal feeling she is not a true Hurtigrute as of yet, in a way that she has to prove herself for some time, but she is getting closer.

                      Great image as always!

We'll have a "hurtigruting expert's view on that in a few weeks time.

The Seagull's impressions will come when I have my photos available and a fully working computer! ....but generally speaking the ship fitted well into the role of hurtigrute in regular coastal service

Spitsbergen has changed from NOR to NIS flag and is now a cruise ship with partly foreign crew on board:

Thank you for the direction to that interesting "news", Sir ombugge.

I would think Svalbard /Spitsbergen would be considered as Norwegian territory / Norway.

Personally, and I may be wrong, but I think it's about high time for the Government to start saving the pieces left of the few remaining Norwegian seamen.
