    Supreme pictures from "Spitsbergen", pakarang
I have not yet been on board the ship myself, but now I have your pictures that I can study.
It looks very good I think.

      Thank you very much, Azimut!

The ship does indeed appeal but she is so different to her other sisters at Hurtigruten - almost like a much more exotic version of the traditional.

Excellent job as usual. That image has great dynamics - love the look of the water rushing around her hull and from the stern. It elevates the quality of the image!

Strange how we get used to these "odd ships" after a while.... I thought I would never warm up to actually "like" this ship, but right now, she is one of the others.

I have a personal feeling she is not a true Hurtigrute as of yet, in a way that she has to prove herself for some time, but she is getting closer.

          Great image as always!

We'll have a "hurtigruting expert's view on that in a few weeks time.

The Seagull's impressions will come when I have my photos available and a fully working computer! ....but generally speaking the ship fitted well into the role of hurtigrute in regular coastal service

Spitsbergen has changed from NOR to NIS flag and is now a cruise ship with partly foreign crew on board:

Thank you for the direction to that interesting "news", Sir ombugge.

I would think Svalbard /Spitsbergen would be considered as Norwegian territory / Norway.

Personally, and I may be wrong, but I think it's about high time for the Government to start saving the pieces left of the few remaining Norwegian seamen.

Don't remember much from that day, other than the fact I was heading to or from work, and that is was freezing cold:

I think these were taken with iPHONE only, hence the lesser quality:

Enjoyed these images, especially because Ila is not the usual location for a hurtigrute. Also I'm actually pleased you only just posted them, as it was only this May that I got to know the ship on my short trip.

Thank you - I wonder if this one-off ship will ever be considered a classical Hurtigrute, or if she will forever remain what she is, a one-off ship.

                        She wears the colours well.

I normally don't bother about photographing coastal steamers any more, but for some reason, I did an exception this past week when Spitsbergen passed by on her way out the fjord from Trondheim:
