Believe me, but I have STILL not been on board the ship to have a look... I guess I better get down to the port some time, and see if it is possible:

Wouldn't it be so awesome if some of the people we see line the railings, actually recognized themselves and let us know?

She does remind me, in certain angles, of one of those block LEGO ships I sued to play with as a child... .

Many gem pictures of "Spitsbergen" here.
I can not compete with your photos Jan-Olav,
but here is a picture taken July 7, 2016
It was a gray and rainy day, so therefore I have chosen the ship in color and the rest in black and white.

Thank you both for posting more woderful pictures of this interesting ship. I am very curious to see her interior so i would be so glad, if our captain would grab his camera one day and spend some time for a visit, when she is in Trondheim again and it is fitting to his working times...

Yes, I agree - I really need to make my way down to the pier one day and visit her!

The part blac/white and color image is really nice - love the fact that the ships stands out from the background like that. It's a very nice effect that enhances the ship!

What I noticed when travelling with Spitsbergen Bergen - Trondheim last week, was the the ship did not sail straight for long periods of time.
It sailed like a "drunken sailor", which can be seen from the wake on this picture.
The norwegian nautical term is "gire" (skipet girer = utilsiktet kursavvik) but I have not found any english term. (The ship is gearing?).
Apart from this, Spitsbergen was a sympathetic, intimate ship with a modern interior (no extremes like some others we have seen) and good cabins, food and an excellent open upper deck. My only reservation is the observation lounge, situated below the bridge, and far too small.

                    Regards; Sigve.

Yawing would be a good English term, although not much weather induced forces here: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/yawing
Probably caused by the Autopilot over compensating.
The term is also used when a towed barge, or vessel, is "yawing" behind the tug.
