Excellent. I have visited that page before but never read it all through. Even with Google translate, it is hard work for an English speaker.
I have made a copy of the Google translation and am working on improving the English. In places the translation is very good and in others the original meaning is lost. A reference to "17 mai" confused me but I worked it out with help from Wikipedia.

It article is very emotional where it describes Harald Jarl's Jubilee tour in 2000 and the final tour in 2001.

I may need help with some paragraphs form some of you clever bilingual Norwegians. Meanwhile, the exercise is helping me learn Norwegian though I expect my pronunciation is very poor. The hard thing to remember is that "sk" is equivalent to "sh" in Englisk(!)

Eventually I will offer the English version to the original author for his site.

In the STP-Forum was a discussion about the machine? I don't understand enough. (I found the side from Per Rydheim by searching the words Harald Jarl, rød and stripe )

Today I scanned some old photos. Not the best quality, but I hope you will like.

And that's just the ship's sewing machine!

But seriously, is that the main propulsion or one of the generator sets?

            Here's something strange:

We see here that for some unknown time period Andrea was fully upgraded and sporting her two radomes, BEFORE she was given her orange stripe.

Now look at the brochure cover here. The date is 2003-2004 and (a) the orange stripe is too thick and too high on the hull, (b) the radomes are missing. Clearly a Photoshop job, probably based on an older photo of Harold Jarl and maybe while still in Hurtigruten service.

It seems that Elegant had the orange stripe in mind for some time before they actually got round to painting it on.

I'm convinced, though not sure, that the brochure cover is a PS.

I think the satellite domes were installed immediately after the pruchase and before she started cruising. Well, I mean, that is what I can recall.

If you are right (and I think you are), then the brochure picture absolutely must be a PS job - either to :
                • add the stripe or
                • remove the radomes

In my mind, there's little doubt - they added the orange stripe to a photo of Harold Jarl (and blued-up her hull, and airbrushed out the cranes). The photo is certainly pre-Andrea-rebuild; there's no promenade deck extension round the front of the deckhouse.

                It's an "artists impression".

This image was in an old calendar from NFDS, and in the text below the image, it was stated that the ship is seen in Lerwick, Shetland Islands.... BUT, I think it looks very much like Bodø harbour, with the lighthouse in the background.... what do you think?

The white house on the right has a little lighthouse attached to it!
Maybe you can see it better in the second photo in this post in the Bodo thread.

                            • But, is that lighthouse still in use ?
The only light I find on charts today is a light at the most south-western point of Nyholmen, whereas those buildings at the picture there seems to be at the center of the Nyholmen.
I take it it's the Little Hjartøy we see behind, or what do you say J-O, who has been operating in and out of that harbour for a while ?

The old lighthouse in the centre of Nyholmen is no longer in use. Here it is mentioned on the Norsk Fyrhistorisk Forening website:
                                http://www.fyr.no/fyra/nyholmen/nyholmen.html
I have other photos on the Bodø thread which show it in relation to the light you mention on the south west point of Nyholmen

It is indeed Little Hjartøy than is seen behind.

I love the viewpoint at the end of the mole from where it is fascinating to watch ships of various sizes making that turn round the point of Nyholmen. I’m sure Jan-Olav will have lots to say about that turn –but probably not until after he has punished us for being so delightfully OT here!!!!
