Re: ex HARALD JARL ::: ex ANDREA ::: SERENISSIMA :::

I also firmly believe that each and every one of us, should make an effort to sail on the Serenissima when she starts sailing too...

Not only is it important to support the new adventures of this ship because of her Norwegian heritage, but also because so few companies make an effort to offer "truly classical ships".

It is with our support they will be able to continue operating such ships!

How about a future CVF cruise on Serenissima?

The hotels are near the harbour. A bus from airport to the town center (distance 23km) is running each 20 minutes. Which flight are you booked on? Then we can specify this in detail. Take care to get some Kunas before or directly at the airport, it is often not possible to pay with Euro and if, the exchange rates are not always fair.
1 Kuna is about 1 NOK. You should also arrange hotel payment before, then you know how much Kunas you will need.

Venice: Can you check at which port terminal you will arrive? There are different ones with different connections. Distance Venice town to Venice harbour: 13km.
              Taxi costs 25-30 Euro.

Look how smooth her shipside is! (Post over). This is something different than the shipside I pixed in Bergen in 2008! (Below).

Ivan T in Split has graciously supplied us with a brand new image of the Serenissima, and this time, the funnel and aft mast is back in it's place!

Take a look at at the new image from yesterday, January 25th 2013: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/...hp?lid=1731502

The tender gangway has been moved midships to a new opening on the side, close to where the ticket office and baggage area was located before.

Checking out the ship's new deck plan, I'm thrilled to see that they have chosen to remember and honor her past history.... Andrea Lounge, Harald Lounge... and a jacuzzi in the cargo hatch!

The front corners of the Venice Restaurant seems like a modification too, in addition to the much larger cabins on deck 3. Not to mention the Lido Bar and fitness room on the bow, in what used to be the deck house.

Re: ex HARALD JARL ::: ex ANDREA ::: SERENISSIMA :::

Is it true as some people mentions, that this ship was capable of doing 20 knots at full speed?
I have heard this story from Harald Jarl's days in the service:

On a sailing southwards from Brønnøysund, they had a case of serious illness on board. Assistance was hours away, and the only – and quickest – way was to go to Rørvik as fast as possible. The chief himself therefore took the throttles in the engine room, and Harald Jarl went to Rørvik with a speed never obtained before (and maybe never again later).
I think this is the background for the 20 knot rumour, but what the actual speed was, I do not know. Neither do I know if this is a true story, but nevertheless it's a good one...
                              Regards; Sigve.
