      Yes indeed, thank you Locarno.

PS: I have been to Locarno ... or was it Lugano? It was many years ago.

        Hi,
Lugano is at the Lake Lugano, Locarno is located further south at the Lago Maggiore, which is 1/3 inside Switzerland and 2/3 in Italy. Interesting, the entire shippping - ferry services as well as torusit boats, are operated from an Italian Company!
OK NEWS RE ANDREA: just received word from the bank that there was no bidders for the Andrea. The Courts have now ruled that a new date, some time at the end of january will be scheduled to give it another try......Now to me that sounds bad, as the reserve bid was pretty low and if no one was willing to pay this sum, that menas the next auction will see the rpice going lower and then she will certainly go for scrap.
        sorry guys

Oh dear, that is bad news (about Andrea, not the ferry services on Lake Maggiore).

Maybe one of us will win the EuroMillions lottery next weekend ..... If so, then it would be a good idea to spend the Euros quickly.

The good news is that the reserved price is still far too high for any scrapper to be interested. (Last sales for scrap around USD 500 per tonnes light weight)

As for winning the EuroMillion lottery, the changes are.........../1???

DARN.... that is indeed not so good news, but, let's spread the word about her (not to scrappers off course), and let's hope someone has a plan to start a small explorer cruise line with her.

Re: ex HARALD JARL ::: ANDREA :::

                Hi all Harald Jarl/Andrea lovers,

it's been a long time since I've been here! Mainly because I was at sea most of the past year and also because I couldn't remember the name of this forum and where I had found it. After a long search I found it back but then didn't remember my password anymore.... ;-) Now I saved it in my 'favorites'!!
At least, here I am again now. I have received an email today which had the same information on the Andrea as Locarno had written above. As we all agree, not good news at all and I would hate Andrea being turned into scrap as well.
I saw Andrea earlier this year in May, still tied up, now together with the Monet. Although I couln't get close, the ship looked very well maintained. Just hope someone will found it worth it to give her a new life... It was kind of funny. I was working on another ship and we visited Split. I had exactly one hour of free time, and of course I knew what to do with that. I went to a taxi stand and asked one of the drivers to bring me to the port of Vranijc, he looked at me not understanding what I would do there. Once arrived, I asked him to wait, while I got out of the car and stood there watching the Andrea, almost in tears, and taking a few snapshots. I got back in after 10 minutes and asked him to bring me back. I could see on the look of his face that he though I was a crazy woman until I explained him why...
I'm uploading some of the pictures on Flickr now and will post them later.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy 2012!!!

Hi Pakarang ( or is Jan-Olav Storli you real name?)

did you take the picture of Andrea in the ice with the avalange you posted on page 1 of this thread? And if so from which ship? Or if not, do you know the person who took it?
I'm very interested, as this picture was taken somewhere between 27 and 30 December 2008. I was onboard at that time, doing Andrea's last season before Elagant cruises went bankrupt. I thought I recognized it and compared this picture with the picture of an avalange I took then, and guess what it, is exactly the same (mine without the ship of course as I was standing on it ;-) ). Exactly the same cloud and icebergs, especially the bigger one on the left.

                      Hi Kristine,

Good to see you here again.

Thank you for the Vranijc photos. As you say, Andrea looks to be in good condition. Let's hope the machinery hasn't suffered too badly with lack of use.

I love that photo on Page 1. How amazing that you should have taken one at the same moment.

Happy Christmas to one and all.

This image was actually found on a website called pizdaus or pixdaus... I think it is a Russian website, and they now have a very large stock of photos.

Thanks for the info pakarang! That's where I've found it as well, twice, under two different names. Well, it doesn't matter really, I'm just happy to have the photo!! Pixdaus seems to be a German site.
