If you are dining in a restaurant along the Bosphorus, keep an eye out for ships heading in your direction:

Not a good day. If the winds take a short break, they might even be able to pull her out before the damage gets too big.

Interesting video: it almost appears as if the engine finally gets momentum astern at the same time as she crashes (based on the black smoke from the funnel).

                      This happens far too often:
According to videos posted on the popular Noticias de Cruceros, two cruise ships operated by MSC Cruises collided at the port in Buenos Aires. The YouTube videos shows the MSC ORCHESTRA and the MSC POESIA colliding at the port. There are no reports of personal injury, not is there any explanation for the collision.

Makes me think of F1 motor racing driver advice:- the absolute no-no is getting into a collision with your Team-mate!

I searched youtube for "Poesia crash" to find a better video of the incident shortly after it happening, and I have to say that I was amazed at so many other MSC Poesia incidents there are on youtube!

Such a horrible day for the Captain.

I wonder if there was a penetration in the hull. Concrete edges has a tendency ti rip apart steel. Kind of "flimsy" for the whole bollard to sink, when it is supposed to hold a ship of that size in high winds. i woodier what the bollard strength on these were?

Those are designed to withstand a pull, not a push, or for the ship to moor against. (Maybe even designed to collapse when hit like this to minimise damages to flimsy ship sides)

Aha... OK, that sounds really plausible, ombugge. You are probably correct there.

I'm trying to understand if this types of collisions (ship/shore or ship/moored-ship) are becoming drastically more frequent, or if they are just more visible due to all smart device cameras?

                              Mostly for your second guess.
But with more cruise vessel the change that it happens ingrease too.
This Epic video shall be filmed by hundreds of passingers, and just a few uploaded it on youtube
The same that there are complete tv shows with dashcam filmed crashes. Mainly Russian video's

Agree, but the increased size of ships could also affect the number collisions, making it more challenging to manovre the gigants in "must visit" harbours.
                          Working...
