and the 5th and last tug of the smitwijs group the ''smitwijs typhoon''

the tugs sailed in the beginning under there old name ,with smit in front and the wijsmuller tugs just as tempest and typhoon.
later was smitwijs added to there names

do you know why they had reshape the bow's of the wijsmuller tugs?
the old bow was looking much better,i supose that they had to strenghten the complete bow for some push work

i'm stupid, smitwijs towing had 7 tugs, the former smit houston en smit new york where there too

        even more stupid.
they is Always talked about the big 7 of smitwijs, but what i have read now (searching from images of them under there differend names) that the ''smit Houston'' never belonged to smitwijs.
it's even hard to find images of them with al the names,or the livery

it was a big quest to find images of the Dutch big 7,of SmitWijs ,with al there names and liveries
searching a long time for images of one tug, that never belong in the Smitwijs group.
Smit brought in 4 (i thought 5) and Wijsmuller 2

so here they are with differend names and liveries.

      Wijsmuller brought in the ''typhoon'',
here images how she came from the yard .with the round bow

later ,wich didn't make here looking better, but they probaly needed it,the new ugly bow,a square shape

later in the Smitwijs group they added ''smitwijs'' for the name ,change the company name on her hull in ''smitwijs'' and with a new designed logo on the funnels
(those changes were made on al 6 tugs )

1 of the big 7 is lost.
(don't know if she is salvaged)

Smit Rotterdam is quite iconic as a ship for me too. I saw the legendary Billing boats model of the ship in the window of a local model building store back in 1980 and it was just so cool.

yes it's a favorit model too, here in holland
there are even some models in scale 1:50,wich make it a big model

after she was sold ,her name was changed into ''indus''

and with a bright red hull

it seems that she was sold again, renamed to ''jedana'' nd sailed to Allang.last ais was from januari 2016

so kind of 2 of 7 is gone
